Since these designs arn't core Godzilla (which in this case is Ultima) they're essentially new creations. The only Godzilla design in the show that's meant to resemble Godzilla is Ultima. It's a very Shin-esk scenario.Spuro wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 6:54 pmOkay, so instead of a shitty Titanosaurus/Varan/Gorosaurus design that barely resembles the character, it’s a shitty Godzilla design that doesn’t remotely resemble the character (minus Gorozilla). That isn’t an improvement. Arguably it’s worse.phillipw1954 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 5:35 pmNope, no rock and a hard place here. Titanosaurus, Varan, and Gorosaurus aren't in the show. Godzilla, in its first form, does in fact look like a fish/Titanosaurus hybrid. For a creative reason. Whether this reason is "creative (as in its good)" is up to whomever's opinion, but the choice its self was just a creative decision. They just chose to make it that way.Spuro wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 9:59 am
Titanosaurus - I guess he's Godzilla now? You're kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place with this one. Either Godzilla looks like a fish/Titanosaurus hybrid for some dumbass reason, or Titanosaurus is now an ugly mosasaur that barely resembles the character. (1/10)
Varan - See Titanosaurus. The same problems apply. (1/10)
Gorosaurus - See Varan and Titanosaurus. The same problems apply. (1/10)
Which was the rock and hard place I’m referring to. They can’t win with those designs unless they make them new monsters entirely (though Gorozilla would make an okay Minilla/Jr type of character).
Like, Kamata-Kun looks nothing like Godzilla, and yet it's a form of Godzilla. It's a new creation.
Amphibia, Aquilitis, and Terrestris, are only meant to slightly resemble Godzilla by using a few characteristics such as dorsal fins. The fact that theyre not faithful is kinda reduntant as they are new creations.
Its like if you said Salunga was a crappy redesign of Gabara. That statement is kinda void because Salunga isn't meant to be Gabara. Do they look similar? Does the new design have traits similar to that of older ones for other creations? Absolutely.
In shot, to say these designs don't romotely resemble the character isn't that great of a take because these characters haven't existed before (Aquilitus, Amphibia, Terrestris).
And the fact that "they can't win with those designs unless they make them new monsters entirely" is strictly up to one's opinion, and isn't a universal fact or anything. I know you didn't say that, but I'd like to nail down the coffin just in case.
