I'm not even sure if it was going to be used or if it was simply a mobility test of the model.LSD Jellyfish wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 5:30 pm The tail slither is hilarious, and I love how the video shifts tonally with music. However, like everyone else, I get why it wasn't used. It's certainly interesting though. I like how the tail plays big part of Shin, but got severely axed and cut. Ironically though, a lot of people say that Shin is too slow; well now we know he can be a fast boy too.

I had no idea that was a thing until I watched the bonus features on Toho's Blu-ray. I laughed my ass off, but yeah, it definitely doesn't belong in the movie.

I love these videos. I love the combination of CG and standard tokusatsu effects. It's really hard to distinguish in the film itself but just adds that extra layer of believability. I think it really adds that extra oomph to the destruction sequences that's lacking in most modern films of its kind.

A part of me wishes Godzilla crawling on all fours made it to the finished film. Shin Godzilla crawling like a giant crocodile or monitor lizard sounds even more primally disturbing than the already chilling second and third form we got.

I unapologetically, wholeheartedly, and without a doubt hate Godzilla vs Kong.

I never noticed until recently how this particular scrapped concept design for Godzilla had very visible gills much like Legendary's Godzilla.

Has there been a godzilla incarnation without gills? I know the breathing/sight holes in the showa era where "gills", did this continue over into the heisei era. All I remember is the outrage in parts of the fandom when both Legendary and Shin had "traditional" gills.

Re: Shin Godzilla - The General Discussion Thread
Every Toho Godzilla suit has sight holes. I don't know or particularly care about the "official" stance on that, but if those are consistently lampshaded as gills, then I believe that leaves only AniGoji and GINO as the only possible non-gilled Godzillas.

Well Godzilla Earth doesn't seem to need to breathe at least not in the conventional sense.

Pretty sure just AniGoji, GINO seems to have parts of the skin that somewhat resemble gills.
