SP-ify a classic kaiju for Season 2!

Post by Mac Daddy MM »

Thought this could be a fun little thing. Given Season 2 seems to be obvious, how would you bring in some other, classic kaiju into the fold? Would you tie them to the red dust or something new all together? I have two main ideas that have been rolling around in my head.

- Monster X: Following the red dust and the advent of Godzilla, governments and various agencies around the world have begun trying to do what humans always do: harness the power and weaponize it. A small amount of red dust is eventually collected and experimented with, eventually "infecting" the carcasses of some dead animals. The dust begins to merge the corpses and mutate them into a skeletal abomination, a monstrous zombie-like creature that eventually has to be taken care of. Probably in some great battle with MechaGodzilla to display the full strength of the machine for the series.

- Moguera: While Jet Jaguar was destroyed and the Pero 2 AI gone with it, the Otaki factory has gained international support and a lot more funding. A new AI is crafted alongside a new machine, one much more at the ready to save the world from dangers. Moguera can be piloted by a team or by its controlling AI, which is virtually a Pero 3. Moguera would be a bit of a blend of the Heisei and Showa designs with typical anime mecha tropes. It wouldn't be as beam spammy as the 90s one, but would retain the cone-like hands and warheads inside. Would eventually have to have a clash with MechaGodzilla.

Ebirah – Looks like a skeleton shrimp and later turns into Baragon.

Baragon – A giant hermit crab with a horn on its head that turns into Destoroyah a few episodes later.

Destoryah - Somehow looks even edgier than the 90s version with all the spikes, and has legs twice as thick as its upper body. It fires its micio-oxygen ray in a scene that's a shot-for-shot copy of Shin Godzilla's atomic ray scene. It is eventually killed by a stick of dynamite.

Mothra - Inexplicably a giant scorpion with Megaguirus traits. The characters repeatedly call it a moth, despite it quite obviously not being a moth.

Gorosaurus – Indistinguishable from a T-Rex, and looks like it walked straight out of Jurassic Park.

Mechagodzilla - Looks cool, but is voiced by what sounds to be a hyperactive four-year-old that screams and babbles during every single one of his fight scenes.

Edit: Oh shit, duh. And "Mothra" bleeds Dogoras for blood. How the hell did I forget THAT detail.

Zilla- Taken from Shin Godzilla in origin, it turns out bits and pieces of the red mist had fused with Godzilla's DNA, and the nearly invisible cells fell to the ground and the ocean. The ones that went to sea in particular ended up touching an unexplored island, where iguanas had been making home for years.

And through unexplainable science, the genes had mixed.

The result is a pair of "Zillas", more dinosaurian spawns of Godzilla that resemble him in his Terrestilis form, but are much faster, but yet, not as durable. The avera military missiles could take them down.. which would have ended the threat quicker had they not already bred. Turns out that hundreds of them can be spawned at a time, though the power of the massive green mist jutted out of their dorsal plates. No other kaiju seems willing to go after them, and Earth is on the verge of being completely overun..

A guy who randomly stumbled upon this place one day, invested much too much time into it, and now appears to be stuck here for all eternity..and strangely enough, i do not regret it!

Dagarah could be a competing mutation of tissue from Aquatalis that has a symbiotic relationship with red powder producing starfish.

Design- & ability-wise, Dagahra does seem like the kaiju most naturally fit for the SP universe.

I can easily see Dagarah, Moguera, and perhaps Zilla arriving.

The comments about plants during Ultima's rampage could be the Vampire plants easily. Biollante could be one that fed on bits and pieces of Ultima that fell off in the JSDF attacks on him. Biollante could also possibly have G dorsal fin leaves as well.

King Kong: A species of gorilla that produces red dust and serves as cannon fodder to other Kaiju, especially Godzilla. Two King Kongs manage to grow to fifty meters in height and challenge Godzilla and MechaGodzilla in different episodes—and both barely put up a fight before suffering the same fate as this poor Manda.

ACTUAL King Kong: The smaller apes were just Kongs In Name Only; the real legitimate King Kong is an interdimensional simian deity who’s body produces the same code as the Orthogonal Diagonalizer, manipulating and nullifying Godzilla’s red dust and turning it into harmless crystal. Like Godzilla, Kong is also a singular point—he was first alluded to in the 1930’s when he was sighted on an island covered in fog… … …

Hedorah: An anomalous advanced version of Archetype, it's a mostly mindless being wandering about spreading bits of itself. As a result of its make-up, it is a Singular Point. It resembles a giant blob dripping liquified Archetype with large black eyes a singular black eye moving around its body looking over the world around it... :Hedorah:

Aggregates: Pieces of Hedorah that take lives of their own. Unlike Hedorah itself, Aggregates are more aggressive in their spreading of Archetype.

Dorats: Already touched on this idea, but I can advance on it here (somewhat). On the day Godzilla had come to the world, Ghidorah would rise soon after. Ghidorah's genetic make-up seemed to have an adverse effect on the Red Dust, destabilizing it which would cause it to breakdown. While Ghidorah would die many years ago, his children would be left in the world where humans would eventually domesticate them. They would eventually fade away from public knowledge as they became more and more rare by the day.

Maguma- The red dust is spread by wind, and penetrates ice in the northern Pacific. In the ice is an unknown, and 30 ft, specimen of Valenictus, an extinct Walrus relative. It breaks free of the ice, and disrupts fishing throughout the northern Pacific, including the Japanese coast. This Maguma is almost impossible to catch in water, but when it comes on land to sun itself, it can be attacked.

Atragon- With the threat of possible water kaiju, an advanced sub is built to deal with such creatures. It has the usual drill and torpedoes, but is also armed with a secret weapon called biospheres. These devices are launched from below a target and stick into the kaiju's flesh, injecting a toxin that slows down the neural communication between brain and muscles. Maguma will be killed by the Atragon.
The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made.

The strength of the vampire is that people will not believe in him.

I got a few

Moguera
going crazy: biomechanical Moguera.
Maybe amachine that’s made to collect/demolish dust has a strange organic or inorganic-lifeform version of Mguera burst out of it chestburster style once something destabilizes the blue dust and it has a strange reaction with the machine.
Heck, maybe have the robot be based on original fleshy quadruped concept Mogera, and the thing that emerges resemble the robot version we all know

Kroiga/Griffon/Black moth
Could be a fun cryptid heralding the return of monsters, a quadruped Mothman/Owlman combined with the melanistic Alien Big Cat phenomenon perhaps.

An oodako homage that can teleport as a reference to appearing out of nowhere where an octopus has no business being.

A gargantua would fit in very well, though I’d suggest a new one rather than Gaira or Sanda.

Maguma: Grey-alien eyed reptillian walrus thing: i.e.acknowledging how weird the suit is and how canonically his blood resembles that of a reptile [ they drew in nuclei in the red blood cells in the microscope slides, which mammals lack. Artist put in admirable research only for them to go against the script and make it a walrus.] I can see as an "accidentally benevolent" monster getting into fights with monsters attacking humans while ignoring the smaller creatures.

Craziest idea yet from a post on my blog [edits in bracketts]:
An Iron Giant or Pete’s Dragon style story with Daigoro could work.
...

I don’t know how to work his mother into the story as the kaiju don’t seem capable of reproducing yet, or even necessarily will given Mei’s philosophizing on forms of existence outside conventional space and time completely alien to our own. [ I did remember that thing about a creature giving birth to its own parent in one of her thought experiments. Perhaps a less visceral "dreamed a mother into existance/summoned one" thing being suggested]
Perhaps he could be adopted by her without being blood relation as a reverse of the film where she dies. A bittersweet ending as they head off together, fate uncertain or doomed but at least knowing peace and companionship in their final moments.

Ok my idea for oodako teleporting was mostly a joke but now I remembered octopi can fit/travel through extremely small spaces and this could be a terrifying moment of it manifesting inside, say a disaster shelter.

But yeah, I am proud of the idea of moguera as a demolition machine cleaning up the blue crystals

Hmm.... instead of genetics Biollante is an experiment in trying to use hooked up machinery to allow a woman test subject to try to control Red Dust similar to Salunga? And it instead perhaps interacts with some ab-dimensional foliage. This time Biollante's core could be far away from the main reptile-like body, hidden and connected by roots, and perhaps decoy cores, containing the test subject.

Another idea: homages to the H-man that are more like the Chozo ghosts of Metroid Prime. Experiments making humans out of synch with normal space-time

Minilla

Caught in Godzilla's original appearance, a young woman barely struggled to escape. With her family gone, she's now alone to raise her unborn child that was only a few weeks in development. She was exposed directly to the red dust and Godzilla before she was rescued. And it was this exposure that could either doom or save the human race. Her body didn't suffer any consequences of exposure, but the fetus in her womb absorbed the red dust she inhaled. It sped up the development process and effectively made her child half-Godzilla and half-human. When this was discovered, she was quickly quarantined from the rest of the world and a fierce debate on if the fetus should be aborted or allowed to grow began...

Until the fetus itself began to reach through time and space to speak telepathically. Its existence is an anomaly and something that was never suppose to happen nor ever happened before. Giving itself the name of "Minilla", the entity warns the world that the doomsday has only been postponed. Before his birth, Godzilla and the red dust reappear. Knowing the threat Minilla poses to his own existence, and having a sort of telepathic link to the unborn child creature, Godzilla begins to chase after the only thing that has any hope of ending his reign of terror and eliminating the red dust once and for all...
