You can tell by the fact that they're filled with styrofoam.

Maybe this topic should just evolve into a -"Any surviving suits from Godzilla movies?"-thread, and be moved to the General Toho section, because none of these recent posts are of Showa-era suits.

I'll gladly eat crow if it doesn't turn out that way....but at this point it feels painfully obvious, as it has for months.

That would probably be for the better. It's not like any of the Showa suits are around anymore anyways.

This makes me wish Toho would make modernized versions of the showa kaiju like what Tsuburasa did with the older ultramen and kaiju.

I still find it hilarious that of all of them, the robot is the one that's survived.

Well, it was one of the last suits featured in the Showa era.

I don't really think being one of the last Showa suits matters much given that GMK Goji looks like this:

Maybe. Maybe the suit got restored for that exhibition Toho did acouple years back.

Either way it recently looked like that and is only 15 years old by now.

That Godzilla looks much better. And so do the two guardian monsters.

Thank the molds! I don't think that's the original suit. It's probably a completely new build using the same molds. Godzilla 2001 was sculpted and then pieced together, like the suits from the 1990's.

Anyway, I think the head of Godzilla 1965 is still "intact". Not sure, though.
I'd change my username if I had the chance. It's a typo. It's supposed to be "66," and it's a very unfortunate thing to have on my account. Please help.

And the fact that it didn't have any scenes that involved water. Water damage is the worst enemy of kaiju suits.
Well, that's certainly a thing.

I might be wrong, but I believe that parts of the suit were actually metal.

It's mostly rubber and plastic. If there are any metal parts, it was probably used sparingly to help keep the suit light and maneuverable.
Well, that's certainly a thing.

Not that I've heard, but I think earlier in this thread when it first came up that Mechagodzilla had survived it was mentioned that the most of the head and the flying prop were built out of wood so they survived without issue.

Jet Jaguar hasn't survived.
The suit may not exist anymore, but the prop used for the flying scenes is still around and in good condition.
