Kiryu Vs Gigan, Megalon & Jet Jaguar.

Post by Gojira1604 »

Kiryu 2003: https://www.tohokingdom.com/kaiju/kiryu.htm#03
Vs
Megalon: https://www.tohokingdom.com/kaiju/megalon.htm
Gigan 1972: https://www.tohokingdom.com/kaiju/gigan_showa.htm
Jet Jaguar: https://www.tohokingdom.com/kaiju/jet_jaguar.htm

Location: Base of Mt.Fuji

Verdict: I think Kiryu wins since he's much more agile and the other three are probably too weak to really damage him anyway.

The Showa Trio shreds Kiryu into scrap metal. Gigan alone was a huge challenge for Showa Godzilla who is leagues and miles above KiryuGoji, and Kiryu on the other hand is undoubtedly the weakest incarnation of MechaGodzilla--and without that absolute zero cannon, he's no longer a glass cannon. He's just a big chump. Adding Megalon into the mix already makes this a metal-rending curbstomp, and then putting Jet Jaguar in as well?

Gigan and Megalon tear his metallic ass apart while Jet stands back and watches.

Gigan and Megalon clobber Kiryu back to the grave. JJ is just here to watch and cheer.

Gigan was in agony from masers way weaker than what Kiryu is packing and needed King Ghidorah to save his ass, and Megalon did no better. One shot from Kiryu’s Type 90 Masers are gonna drop their asses, same with just about anything else in his arsenal. Showa Godzilla beat Gigan’s ass in Godzilla vs Megalon, and in Godzilla vs Gigan he was moving and fighting more like 60s Godzilla (except way slower). Jet Jaguar sucks in melee, yeah he broke Gigan’s arm but that was after Godzilla had arrived and was carrying the team’s weight hard. Kiryu can handle any of them in melee 1v1 easily, and with some good strikes with his arsenal, he can easily do that to whoever isn’t writhing on the ground from his beam. Kiryu can win this if he plays his cards right.

If Kiryu tries to engage up close, he's going to quickly have a bad time against all three foes. On the other hand, Gigan and Megalon are terrible at taking beams, which Kiryu has plenty of. The masers would send them both packing fast, and he could handle Jet Jaguar by himself for up close combat. Really, flip a coin here as it entirely depends on how Kiryu engages them.

Kiryu absolutely stands a solid chance here. Individually, he can handle any of the Showa trio 1-on-1. As already mentioned, Gigan and Megalon reacted poorly to masers weaker than what Kiryu's packing, so they're not going to like it if he starts shooting at them. Jet Jaguar's got some nice durability, but Kiryu's arsenal still won't be nice for him, and JJ would have to close the distance to be able to do anything to him. Yes, if the trio does manage to gain up on him, Kiryu will be in trouble, but if he kicks things off with his ranged weaponry, the trio are gonna be in trouble.

We including Jet Jaguar’s shrinking to human size in this? Even if we aren’t, Showa Trio have this. Yes Gigan and Megalon don’t do well with Masers, but Kiryu also doesn’t do well with beam attacks either. Up close fights are firmly in the Showa Trios favor since they most likely aren’t just going to be charging in one by one with Gigan ordering them. And if we do include shrinking in this, not much stopping Jet Jaguar from shrinking down and going into one of the control bays inside Kiryu and start breaking things.

The problem with this counterargument is... what beams is Kiryu going to be hit by here? Jet Jaguar doesn't have any beams, and neither does Gigan. Megalon DOES, but it's not his most frequent form of attack especially when he prefers to just charge in and pummel his foes physically. Nevermind his first fight against JJ had him just stare at him in bewilderment and awe before getting punched in the face, who's to say he won't be equally curious about Kiryu before he starts getting masers and missiles sent into him? Now yes he has Gigan there to coordinate him, but Megalon's napalm and lightning are still very underutilized, The napalm only used in combat to:

1. Stop Jet Jaguar from trying to escape the 2v1
2. Catching Godzilla offguard when he and Gigan were playing dead
3. The Ring of Fire when Godzilla was distracted trying to help Jet Jaguar

That's it. Th lightning bolts were never used against Godzilla or Gigan, so not really a factor here. And even under Gigan's leadership, Megalon was more than happy to stand there and taunt Godzilla as Godzilla ran up to him. Contrast with Kiryu, who can and will make solid use of his ranged options and is far less likely to make such easy openings for his opponents to take advantage of. Yes the Napalm is a probable concern, but considering SOS Goji's insta-charge beams were sending Kiryu flying head over heels, the napalm blasts won't be quite as problematic.

The thing people forget about Megalon is that his durability is actually really impressive. He didn't like taking Godzilla's beam, but it didn't actually damage him. Neither did any amount of melee pummeling or even having a napalm bomb go off inside him. In the end, he simply retreats and apparently still has the strength to burrow back to Seatopia. So he actually serves an important role here (or in any team battle) as a significant damage sponge, taking whatever Kiryu dishes out and giving his teammates time to go on offense.

So Kiryu is in trouble here. He's going to have to focus his weapons on Megalon, possibly for a while, if he wants any hope of putting the big bug down, and he's not likely to get that much time before the team beats him into submission.

I would agree. Kiryu was able to beat Godzilla, but it wasn't easy. Megalon isn't the smartest fighter, but he could take hits, and has distance weapons that could be useful. Gigan is a devious fighter, meanwhile. Gigan won't be fighting up front after the first blast of mazers, but will be letting Megalon get hit while he dive bombs Kiryu with his saw, or attacks with hammer claws when Megalon is able to knock Kiryu down. I don't see JJ doing much here, unless JJ uses his human size to get access inside Kiryu and sabotage the mech. If Kiryu goes all out on Megalon and Gigan, then Kiryu could pull off a win. If Kiryu gets ganged up on while trying to fight one on one, the trio could win this one.
