Ghidorah, The Three Headed Monster: Modern Edition

Post by HillyHulk »

Godzilla (2014 Version), Mothra MV, and Rodan MV vs. King Ghidorah MV

Links to Bios:

https://www.tohokingdom.com/kaiju/rodan ... verse.html
https://www.tohokingdom.com/kaiju/mothr ... html#imago
https://www.tohokingdom.com/kaiju/king_ ... verse.html

Rules:
Death not necessary, retreat viable for debate.
Burning Godzilla prohibited

Verdicts:
Despite having the atomic flamethrower instead of a ray, Godzilla will put up a fight thanks to having both Rodan and Mothra. Rodan, being a relentless little booger, should be able to fight Ghidorah off Godzilla when he needs it. Mothra should also be able to be of use with her webbing despite the stinger likely not being as effective on Ghidorah. Ultimately, however, without burning since it doesn't exist yet with this version of Godzilla Ghidorah is likely to overpower the three with Godzilla being the last because of his gravity beams and incredible melee fighting. I vote for King Ghidorah.

King Ghidorah just has to take to the air to deal with both Rodan and Mothra, which means Godzilla can’t really do much to him. There’s a reason Godzilla just sealed Ghidorah away instead of killing him, and without a big thing of ice nearby, that ain’t happening.

Ghidorah was getting his dick kicked in by Godzilla and Mothra alone in Boston, and skreeonked off like a coward in the end of the Antarctica fight with just Godzilla. All Rodan needs to do is sit back and watch while the King of the Monsters and the Goddess of Infant Island curbstomp Ghidorah their damn selves.

This is 2014 Godzilla. He gets winded and tired easily, not to mention his shitty breath.

We see that Mothra and Godzilla can work well together against King Ghidorah. Even if he is tired and slower in this fight, he’s got an extra hand to help him out this time, and since Rodan charged headfirst against Ghidorah the first time, he’s probably going to do the same here as well. And unlike last time, he’s got Mothra to help him out in the sky this time with her silk attack to trap one or two of the heads together. All they really need to do is somehow ground Ghidorah for Godzilla to charge forth and tackle him down. But, considering how frail those two are against Ghidorah, their best chance is to try getting Ghidorah to fly low enough for Godzilla to snatch him out of the sky like he did pre-supercharge. There might not be an ocean to keep him down this time, but now he’s got two more helpers.

King Ghidorah was not a coward in the Antarctica scene and I will repeat this as many damn times as I have to. It was both strategic because he was in the exact same place he had just been sealed inside for millennia and because he had things he wanted to be getting to, like waking the Titans up and causing mass chaos. Why would he pull a Showa Ghidorah and run with his tails between his legs when he was clearly winning the Antarctica fight?

THIS.

It would be incredibly stupid for Ghidorah to stay and fight in a place where he already lost once. I don't think he was itching for another ice bath after just being freed.

Anyway Ghidorah takes this. 2014 Godzilla, while powerful, isn't as strong as his post-KOTM self. Ghidorah also dwarfs all of them in size, so right off the bat he also has that going for him. Rodan was dispatched by a single Gravity beam, so it would take minimal effort for Ghidorah to discipline his lackey. Mothra probably won't fare any better despite being a pest at first. Then poor Godzilla is all by himself against Ghidorah and this time, there will be no human or Mothra intervention to save him. In this fight, a sky-drop would probably cripple Godzilla and make him an easy kill.

Because he could've just finished the job right there and then, but he didn't. The missiles hit him, Godzilla got back out, and he fled. If he was a legitimate badass, why didn't he just raze the offensive out of the sky and then blast Godzilla's sorry ass back down that pit? And then take to the skies for his quest for mass-chaos? He had Godzilla on the ropes up until the jets showed up, and his goal is to dethrone him and take control of the other Kaiju; why not beat his ass there and wipe out the jets with the opportunity golden and right in front of his three faces, instead of bug out and risk getting curbstomped in the future like he sure enough did? He had the firepower! He could've wing-lightninged their asses and then waste the Big G, and boom! A true King of Terror.

But the moment those missiles hit him, he recoiled in visible pain and covered himself with his wings (and he would do so again in the beginning of the Battle of Boston), and then Godzilla got up and charged him. And that's all it took to send him running.

My point still stands; in the Boston Battle, Godzilla alone was giving Ghidorah a fight--and then Mothra showed up and he was getting his golden ass smashed like a scaly pinyata. He would've been ended by their combined might had he not called Mr. Sora No Daikaiju for backup to even the odds out. He knew he was in deep poop and would've lost the battle had he not summoned Rodan to aid.

For starters, he seemingly can’t actually use the wing lightning without draining an external source of power, or at the very least, it is a highly draining move that he only uses out of desperation given how it burns holes into his own wings. So if he had used it to take down the Argo if he even could have used it there, that would have left him wide open for Godzilla to smash into him and pile drive him into the ice.

Secondly, he clearly wasn’t at full juice regardless after just getting out of a thousands of years long slumber, so that would have just been a risky expenditure to try flying up to destroy the Argo and then needing to go down and deal with Godzilla on the ground after that. This version of King Ghidorah clearly can’t just spam gravity beams no issue, they require charging, so he would have needed to catch the Argo or at least gotten close to it to charge them up, and that just seems like a lot more energy usage than needed when he could just leave and refuel. King Ghidorah was clearly heading towards the volcano to charge himself up, yes there were a million spots he could have fueled himself up with electricity on the way there but he was locked away for dozens if not hundreds of millennia, he would have had no way of knowing that especially because he never went near any of them on the way there.

It’s almost like Godzilla just got supercharged by a nuke going off directly in his face and is very clearly much faster and stronger than he was before.

He still could’ve used those gravity beams of his to just blast Godzilla back down that hole and then shoot the edges, and bury him Final Wars-style. And just like that, the Monster King is out of the way, and now he can pulverize those jets in any way he sees fit just the same.

Because he can’t just spew Gravity Beams with no charge time, and because Godzilla would have already known to watch out for getting blasted into the pit that he can crawl out of in a matter of seconds so he could brace himself and/or avoid the full brunt so he doesn’t get shoved back as much, and because it’s a massive pit that he would have needed to get right on the edge of to be able to bring the whole thing down in on Godzilla with his gravity beams instead of just one side which would do jackshit for burying Godzilla (MV King Ghidorah doesn’t really do the flying and firing all three gravity beams at once, probably because they require so much charge time that he’d rather be grounded to minimize the chance of missing with them), leaving him open to Godzilla grabbing his foot and dragging him down.

MV Ghidorah is not a beam spammer like his counterparts, his clear preference for melee isn’t because he just doesn’t want to use his beams for no reason, he outright can’t whip them out several times in a row in quick succession.

There’s also a reason he decided to flee after the missiles struck him. Those weapons didn’t exist before he was frozen in the ice, so how could he be certain there weren’t any stronger ones or a lot more somewhere around him to drop him back into his icy prison? It’s like you go to sleep when ants are throwing stones, then you suddenly wake up and they have catapults throwing bigger rocks at you now. If you just broke out of prison, you wouldn’t just stay there fighting the guards and risk reimprisonment, you’d also leave as soon as possible and regain your strength.

2014 Godzilla has occasional bursts of speed, but it's not as frequent as later movies, he most likely still has enough strength to push back against but I believe he'll be quickly overwhelmed, and his beam isn't going to do much here either.

We already saw how the fight with Rodan went so it pretty much goes the same here, even if Mothra helped I feel like she'd be more of a nuisance than anything, unless she can stab into one of Ghidorah's heads, but that seems highly unlikely.

Overall I think Ghidorah would be too much for the gang to handle in this fight and he'd outlast the three before picking them off one by one.

He whipped out his gravity beams in rapid succession on five occasions: when he blasted Godzilla in the neck, when Godzilla fired and missed with his atomic breath, when he blasted Rodan out of the sky, when he tried and failed to exterminate Maddie in Boston, and when he tried blasting away at Emma as she fled in her sacrifice.

I get what you’re saying, but there’s one big factor that separates this scenario from a normal prison break: there’s only one guard on the same scale as the prisoner escapee, and the others are just…literal ants. When that prisoner starts out beating up that guard, but then flees when the ants with their new teeny tiny weapons start shooting him and then the guard gets back up?

That’s…not good.

On the topic of the Argo’s missiles, they also hit him in the face(s), catching him completely off guard. When the missiles start hitting him again, they’re striking his body and he’s clearly unphased by them. Yeah he puts up his wing to block them, but why wouldn’t he, that’s like letting bugs buzz around you without trying to wave them away.

With the shot to the neck, it’s a single quick blast, not a sustained shot like the triple beam that shoves Godzilla into the pit, same with the blast that spiked Rodan down.
when he tried and failed to exterminate Maddie in Boston, and when he tried blasting away at Emma as she fled in her sacrifice.
With the rapid firing in Madison’s case, you’d think beams strong enough to shove 100,000 tons around like a sack of shit would have shattered the building instead of just punching clean holes into it. I doubt King Ghidorah was putting everything he had into those specific beams, just little zaps of energy to pry apart the building instead of busting out everything he has immediately.

And with Emma, well he was still supercharged. He’s got a lot of energy to burn.

Added in 10 minutes 50 seconds:
Burying Godzilla would have been too difficult anyway! The man had a skyscraper that weighed at least 300,000 tons fall on him, while he was both smaller and weaker than he was in the battle and had just been put through the fucking ringer by the MUTOs, and he was back up in like, a minute. The amount of ice King Ghidorah would have had to drop on his head to actually keep him down would have been absurd and not worth the effort when Godzilla could have crawled up out of the pit or blasted King Ghidorah with his atomic ray while he’s down there.

Those beams looked no different from the ones that slugged Godzilla off his ass. The writers just gave Maddie plot armor and weakened King Ghidorah’s beams to the point where they can’t even destroy one baseball stadium.

Why would they look different? Ghidorah’s gravity beams also didn’t damage the ice when he shot the soldiers, and they looked no different, probably because wouldn’t go all out on a bunch of tiny humans. Kaiju beams don’t change in appearance depending on how much power is being put into them unless it’s a lot more than usual, FW Godzilla’s beam looks no different between barely damaging ice while destroying the Antarctica facility and shoving 200,000 tons away with no issue, Heisei Godzilla’s beam doesn’t change in looks when he’s only doing a quick burst to destroy Biollante’s vines and when he’s doing a full blast (it kinda looks different because it’s for an instant, but it’s the same level of blue and intensity of light), and so on.
