Godzilla 2014, but he’s lookin’ awfully metallic

Post by Nagoda »

I don’t think I saw this one yet so I’ll drop this in here. Instead of Godzilla awakening to destroy the MUTOs in 2014, they find themselves facing his metallic doppelgänger made by Apex.

The MUTOs vs Mechagodzilla (MV)

Rules: Going off the assumption he was meant to kill all Titans, Mechagodzilla will be EMP Proof for this fight.
Both Male and Female MUTO are in this fight.

Verdict: Mechagodzilla wins this one. Superior Melee and with no effect by the EMP, he’s going to rip the MUTOs apart. Plus the Proton Scream is just going to cut right through them.
A reminder to watch Chouseishin Gransazers.

The MUTOS work best when they can not only attack a single target together, but also their foe is unable to properly retaliate from the pain of constantly getting stabbed over and over again. This is why LPG was unable to do anything once he was stuck getting stabbed over and over again. Mechagodzilla... does not have this weakness, and in fact is far from helpless even if he finds himself getting bowled over. His missiles were strong enough to blast Kong off of him and make LPG recoil back from getting hit, and his tail also helps out. Add in the Proton Scream and just how much of a monster this Mechagodzilla is in close quarters combat, and the MUTOS will be hard pressed to even get Mechagodzilla into a vulnerable position. Male either gets blasted out of the sky or torn in half, while the female gets punched across the city before getting the Kiss of Death treatment.

The MUTOs are tough and intelligent fighters, but even with their combined might MechaGodzilla slaughters them. Whenever he's faced with multiple opponents, Mecha G is only caught off guard for a few seconds before he suddenly finds a way to just up and regain the upper hand—even when it looks like he's pinned. And yeah, the proton scream is going to leave the MUTOs reeling.

Added in 40 seconds:
Also, remember that MechaGodzilla literally runs of Hollow Earth energy. The MUTOs' EMPs would not work on him.

It’s stated in the rules.

I know, but I'm merely pointing out that it actually doesn't need to be stated; even by the film's lore, that rule is canon.

Not really.

Godzilla is implied to run on the same energy and his breath was confirmed to be affected by the M.U.T.Os.

So IMO, there is a chance Mechagodzilla could be affected.

In the novel I believe that Godzilla's breath had an electrical spark that ignited that the Mutos were weakening. While his breath ran on the HE energy he needed to spark to amplify that breath. There has all been several retcons on Godzilla since then.

Wasn't MechaGodzilla specifically designed to kill all known Titans including Godzilla? He'd likely have some form of EMP protection of that's the case.

He was designed to Kill Godzilla. Godzilla is so far ahead of the other Titans that if you can kill him you can kill all the others.

That being said Wingard implies more than once Full Power Godzilla would defeat Mechagodzilla.

What he implies is that Godzilla would win the beam struggle between himself and Mechagodzilla, which makes sense given the context of when the fight happens and what happened before: Godzilla has used up a lot of energy trying to roast Kong, and if his beam was in tip top shape, he likely would have won the beam struggle and been able to tear into Mechagodzilla while the machine would be reeling from the blast. Otherwise, nothing else in the fight prior to the beam struggle would have changed. Godzilla being at full power isn't going to change Mechagodzilla throttling him across the city and curbstomping him into every single building prior to then. So even full power Godzilla would still get his ass kicked, it's just he'd be able to turn the tables with winning the beam struggle. This is spelled out more clearly in the novelization, where it notes that even in tip top shape, Mechagodzilla is faster and stronger than Godzilla.

And yes, it does make sense to assume that since MG was designed to kill off all the other Titans, he'd be designed to be immune to the MUTO's EMP even ignoring the fact he isn't running on electricity.

If Godzilla is tired it will be easier to toss him around the way MechaGodzilla. I'm not saying that MechaG wouldn't have been able to do that but he's doing so to a gassed MechaGodzilla. Brock Lesnar at the end of 5 rounds would be easier to toss around them him at the start of a MMA fight. The entire fight would change if Godzilla is at full power becasue MechaG's blow wouldn't be as damaging even if he landed the same number. Godzilla is a living creature he's going to slow down if he's low on power.
