Anyone else wish we'd get more Jurassic Park/World comics? IDW's run was a mixed bag but their first Godzilla series was as well and they certainly upped their game with later series,

It does manage to keep a surprisingly low profile. It's a sizable fandom and it's existence should come as no surprise to anyone, but you just... don't see much of it if you don't go looking for it.

In my experience it overlaps with the general “prehistory/paleontology fandom” a lot. I’m hard pressed to think of another film series that’s as intricately connected to fandoms of certain scientific fields.

The JP fandom overlaps with a lot of other fandoms. There's few JP fans that aren't also big Godzilla fans or Star Wars fans. I'm a generalist JP fan myself. I love the novel, find the film way overrated, don't care too much for the Lost World novel but love the film. JP3 I could take or leave. I do like Jurassic World for what it is but I really enjoy the hell out of the 3rd act. Then I'm fairly torn on Fallen Kingdom. There's some things I really love about it but at the same time there's a lot of unintended goofiness that really hurts it. Still as divided as I am on the World films I do think Claire is my favorite character in the franchise. Then again I absolutely adore Bryce Dallas Howard so that's probably part of it.

I always thought the InGen Tyrannosaurus and Spinosaurus looked so good. I also love most other InGen designs thanks to the god-send that was JWE. Whatever happened to that game? I haven’t played it since... early 2020? Whenever the Return to JP DLC came out.

YouTuber Klayton Fiorti had an interview with a paleontologist that specializes in tyrannosaurs and had a discussion with him about how accurate the T. rex is from the movies that lasted over an hour.

Apparently they did a really good job with the rex. The specialist said it’s probably the franchises’ most accurate dinosaur along with carnotaurus. He said they got the design and behavior almost perfect, but were pretty hit or miss with the biomechanics (correct with smell, wrong with speed and eyesight).

So yeah, we have paleontologists acknowledging what the franchise does right.

Well the eyesight thing was only done for dramatic effect. Pretty sure it was completely absent in the novel.

It's mentioned in the first novelization but specifically as a side effect of the frog DNA as they do the same thing (and Grant confirms it by seeing the Maisaura have the same issue) instead of the movie where it's implied to be something known from fossils, before Lost World retcons it as Rexy simply ignoring them from being full of goat.

Anyway, I think at this point, it's also been retconned from the series too (Rexy and the Buck both clearly react to a still Owen and Eddie in their respective movies, and Camp Cretaceous literally has a plot point of a cardboard cut out fooling the old gal, and like. Those aren't known for their movement lol)

Also, yeah. It's neat Rexy has always been really close.

Rexy being full from the goat and the lawyer and deciding to play with her prey when she looks at Grant and Alex would be a nice retcon for the eyesight.

Dominion trailer is coming soon. Possibly with Fast 9 at the end of the month.

!

This seems really early. Isn't the movie over a year out, still?

Yeah but mostly because of Covid. The film itself is probably largely finished. Besides it's not completely uncommon for a franchise as big as this.

Really liked season 3 of Camp cretaceous. Has done good closing the gap between FK and Dominion.

I'm eight episodes in, and the show has improved markedly this season, finally moving beyond 'watchable' territory and approaching honestly 'likable'.

Somebody says it's fake but looks pretty real to me. I could totally be wrong though.

Everyone saying it's fake now. Oh well it's really well done if nothing else.
