It is surreal to think the first Rebuild came out in 2007... I was a sophomore in high school...

I can't find it but it's also crazy to look back at the first teaser with the originally intended release dates for all 4 films.

If you consider 14 years recent yeah.

I mean, I still think of anything within the past 20 years as "recent" - until I hear myself say it out loud, sometimes.
...But hey, it's all relative. We're all following a monster franchise pushing 70 years; 13 years doesn't sound so long ago in comparison.

Do we still have the same British monarch?

Then it's recent.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

I don’t want to be one of those guys always making 2020 jokes but I’d almost be willing to bet that this comment won’t age well

On the other hand, Japan has a new one.

Anyone think that it would be interesting one day if they did a live-action remake of the series?

Sounds pointless.

Yeah I mean they've already essentially remade the same series 3 times.

Hell no. The casting alone would be atrocious.

Just put the voice cast in wigs, it'll be fine

Honestly wouldn't put it past Anno to release the final Rebuild only to announce a live-action series, the madman.

Anno releases Shin Eva, announces he can finally move on with his life and leave this series that keeps destroying his mental health in the past, and then comes back to the well in five years because after all, live-action VFX has come so far since 2007...

The poor man does seem like he's stuck in a rut sometimes.

While I would be happy to see Anno direct more tokusatsu features, I'm not sure adapting the Evangelion franchise in live-action would benefit the story in any major way.
