Ah, our regularly scheduled Asylum mockbusters! Right on schedule.

On a (semi)related note, I'm surprised Asylum or anyone else didn't make a mockbuster for Kong: Skull Island back in 2017, unless I'm mistaken.
Heh...They could've made King of the Lost World 2: Crossbones Peninsula.

There is also another Asylum film coming out: Triassic Hunt.

Pretty sure there wasn't for G14, either

That new War Of The Monsters isn't from the Asylum, it's an independent British production. Don't let that get your hopes, the director has four films coming out this year. So it will probably be rushed with not much care out into it.

For G14, the Asylum gave us Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark, which has some obvious Godzilla parallels. There was another indie company that released Poseidon Rex.

I myself have made up an idea for a mockbuster of it called Titanape.

Added in 5 minutes 18 seconds:
Also, from the director of War of the Monsters comes Dinosaur Hotel.

As long as it’s not like Cloverfield paradox...I’ll be happy. I wonder if this is partially inspired by recent Godzilla vs Kong hype.

I wouldn't necessarily call Cloverfield a kaiju franchise considering the kaiju elements only really apply to the first film.

They make 2 sequels that aren't direct sequels to the first and a week after Godzilla vs Kong trailer blows up the internet ''Oh remember our big monster movie Cloverfield? We are finally making a direct sequel to it''

I am sure they might have eventually done this, but yeah I am pretty confident Godzilla vs Kong had a big impact on pushing this forward now.

Wow, War of the Monsters is getting a remake?
Something has awoken, and a city must work together before a giant Gorilla, T-Rex and other deadly creatures take back the planet.
Oh no. They turned Gamera into a gorilla and Barugon into a T Rex? This is the shittiest remake I’ve ever seen.

Maybe this is actually an adaption of that old PS2 game instead. That had a gorilla, right? :P

There was a big ape named Congar; A Godzilla like creature called Togera: A huge mantis dubbed Preytor, or something similar, and others.
I've got a good mind to join a club and beat you over the head with it.

Then expect something that's fiercer, more cruel, and deadly than anything that's walked the Earth.

Okay TBH, I feel a WotM film would work better as a TV series, animated or live-action.

Also:
Ape Vs. Monster's premise wrote:An ape lost in space crash-lands, oozing a sludge that makes him and a passing scorpion gigantic, leading to all out brawl for Earth.
Hmm, giant ape kaiju versus a giant scorpion kaiju?
Something tells me the film could borrow a bit from Continuation: King Kong vs. Godzilla. Expect the story to revolve around a plane crash (a la King of the Lost World), the ape to have a psychic link to a child, and for the battle to take place in Africa and/or in a lost temple.

At least the poster is pretty interesting. Remands me of the Heisei-era hand drawn posters.

A bit off-topic, but I was just thinking about the resurgence in interest in kaiju and how there are two big manga series running in Japan right now that revolve around kaiju: Asadora! (Urasawa, of 20th Century Boys and Pluto fame, 's new series - and reinventing classic Japanese pop culture tropes is his whole deal) and Kaiju No. 8 (a toku-style transforming hero done as a Shounen Jump actioneer).

Wouldn't surprise me if either or both get adapted into animation or live action in a few years.

... it's weird: a decade ago the genre was pretty much dead, now I feel it's more robust than any point besides the mid-'60s.
