Whats up with the forum's coding?

Post by 3000 »

The forum has been increasingly unstable for me as of late. Shit loads broken and alot of times, the forum just goes into a blackout state where i cant even access the site for an hour or so at a time. This blackout site where the site is spinning its wheels trying to load happens somewhat often so my first question is, is anyone else hsving these issues? And if so, anything that can or will be done about it?

This forum has been pretty buggy on and off for years, and it seems like its going back to being pretty glitchy.

As for the black out issues, yes, I have been getting those as well as the random slow loads/dead loads. I haven't been experiencing broken images or videos, except when the forum derps half way while loading.

Yeah, thats what i mean, the forum derps out halfway through and loads images and parts of the forum broken. Almost as if it got halfway through loading and just gave up.

This forum is held together with chewed up gum and tape. Surprised it works at all half the time.
I will explain slowly why you are wrong.

Could Arbok or somebody take a break from updating the monster bios and tweak the coding a little bit? This forum is running like garbage. I could load Google News faster than I can load this forum and this forum is supposed to be low bandwidth friendly?

Is it really so difficult to fix that a better alternative is to just let it crumble over time? Reckon we'll just jump forum domains and start over again to "streamline" things like we had to do 5 years ago or so and then start over again in another five years.

I realize that the main page staff doesnt seem to care about the forums but they probably know that the forums are the most popular function of the whole site. Why ignore that? Oh yeah. Gotta make the monster bios more pretty, guys.

I too have experienced the Black-Out glitch numerous times it's quite annoying. though honestly I haven't experienced any glitches at all besides that Black-Out glitch happening every once in a blue moon..though I have experienced a few Lag issues where a page takes longer than it should to load.

Are you allowing Signature Images to be displayed?

The forums have been slow for me, off and on for the last few weeks or so. No problems worse than that, though. I don't have signature images displayed.

Yeah, the coding is pretty shitty, and I know that it's a problem with TK because every other website loads in seconds. A lot of times, the forum won't even load and will just sit there stuck in limbo.

I've been experiencing quite a few issues/errors recently. Annoying.

Keep in mind that Anthony is fully aware of the issues regarding the forum. He's known about them since I was still an Admin, when Derzerb and I issued complaints about how things were running. Nixing sections and subforums appears to be only a temporary solution, migrating to another forum might be the only permanent solution at this time.

I suggested going to another forum last year, but Anthony shot down the idea. And it's getting to the point he can't keep putting it off. Better to do it now and get it over with.

Also, whenever I want to edit a post, it takes an extremely lengthy load time just to get to the edit page.

There is so much I could say with just this one sentence.

I just recently experienced the 505 Error when I was looking at the forum on my Phone yesterday and the lag I have noted has been increasing.

I had two errors while trying to load the forums that I have never seen before anywhere but here:

"503 Backened fetch failed"

"www.tohokingdom.com refused to connect"

A few others had those errors at the same time I had it. Other than those two, I get a bunch of sluggish and/or dead loads on a regular basis on this site only. Go home TK, you're drunk.

So on top of getting logged out multiple times and the slow-down issues, I was just unable to access TK for about 3-5 minutes.
This has gotten beyond annoying.

Among the above, OP mentions. Been getting the 508 every couple of minutes.

Same. There's also no indication of an action being processed whenever I click on something.

I agree, but we moved forums a few years ago and even that seemed like a bandaid? If we are to move forums lets make sure the new host can handle it, yeah?

we deleted so much old TK data and posts for seemingly nothing. Forum is just as slow as ever, if not more so.
