Origins
In the year 1956, two years after humanity was reintroduced to the titans which roamed the world and the same year that we learned we are not alone in the universe, we learned monsters who were not giants also existed.
A small mining town in the Japanese countryside was struck with a string of grisly murders, blood stains and body parts left behind but no body at the crime scenes. It reached a point where a curfew was enacted and a mob took to the streets, determined to find what they believed to be a serial killer.
They were confronted by a gigantic insect, heavily armored and waiting for them with scythe-like limbs and hungry mandibles. A chaotic and gruesome battle ensued, the town filled with the sounds of gunfire and screams. It spilled into the depths of the mine, where they successfully killed the creature with a minecart full of explosives… unveiling a whole nest of the insects in the process.
And a pair of
gigantic pterodactyls, who swiftly devoured the Meganulon and erupted from the mountain. Them, along with the
Mysterian invasion which would soon commence, obscured the initial monster attack from public consciousness.
Eventually scientists were able to study the creatures, those still within the mine that escaped the chaos and other members of the species that soon began popping up around the world. Meganulon, and their imago form known as Meganula, were ancient insects believed to be about as old as the dinosaurs. Surviving within the series of tunnels deep under the ground sometimes called “the Hollow Earth”, they survived to the modern day, slowly making their way back up to the surface over the eons.
Though not the flashiest of events, these swarms appearing anywhere initiates a great upheaval and ruination of locals’ lives. Scouts arriving from under the ground and plucking away at nearby lifeforms, slowly getting worse until the winged Meganula arrive and initiate a brutal assault on anything they come across. This is only a prelude to the queen emerging, a colossus that commands the ancient insects and destroys everything in a several mile radius in order to create a gigantic hive. Reports of Meganulon are met with swift, decisive action to ensure that no chance of the skyscraper sized hive being formed remains. Once a hive is fully formed, the only option is either to deploy Mechagodzilla or to hope another kaiju (usually Rodan) arrives and assaults it.
However, while Meganula swarms have become accepted as a fact of life by most of the world, like earthquakes or hurricanes, there was one instance of this species that was far beyond the typical.
The incursion of the Futurians shook the world in multiple ways. However, one of those ways reared its ugly head quite a bit after the fact. At one point during the battle with
Mecha-King Ghidorah, the cyborg opened its chest and unveiled a complex cannon, which fired an artificial singularity. It sailed past
Godzilla and
Mechagodzilla, dealing brutal damage to both as large portions of their body mass were ripped away and absorbed into it. Mecha-King Ghidorah’s own torso was badly disfigured by the projectile, and a colossal explosion shook the ground from miles away.
It took a week for anyone to explore the resulting crater, and it was a week too late as a swarm of strange Meganulon and Meganula immediately assaulted the crews. In the center of the crater was a husk of a larval queen, which in a matter of hours began to crack open as the Meganula gifted it the food they had obtained by injecting it directly inside the “corpse”.
From it emerged Megaguirus, a drastically mutated Meganula Queen. Whatever process occurred as she was dragged into the current time by the Dimension Tide caused her to become a horrific creature, far more so than a typical Meganula Queen. Immediately she began a campaign of destruction, her swarm accompanying her and devouring everything in their path.
Fire Rodan and Megaguirus’ battle was, for a long time, the most devastating battle between just two monsters. Starting somewhere in the north of Russia, the battle ended somewhere in North Africa, the two chasing each other across multiple nations and leaving chaos in their wake. Megaguirus, with her claws jammed into Rodan’s torso and her tail’s stinger draining his life essence, would have won were it not for
Mothra’s timely arrival. She saved Rodan with a tail-severing shot of her eye beams and together the two destroyed Megaguirus before the battle could spiral off anywhere else.
Unfortunately, Megaguirus’ swarm still remains, having scattered across the world in the wake of their queen’s death. Finding and eradicating them is a top priority for the GDF and the nations of the world, especially with the revelation that normal Meganula can grow into a Queen given sufficient time and resources…
Physical Description
Meganulon and Meganula are gigantic insectoids, resembling armored dragonflies. The former lack wings and a tail, being larvae with thick, dark-brown armor. Their multi-lensed eyes are a dull purple in color. The adult phase sheds the armor for a brighter, yellow shell and large, translucent wings. Meganula’s bodies are notably thinner, more adapted for flight. A lengthy tail extends from their abdomen, bearing a stinger which resembles a dagger. Meganula eyes are much brighter than their larval stage’s, but retain the purple coloration. Both have sizable, sharp mandibles, a set on both the bottom and top of the mouth. Unlike insects as we know them, Meganulon and Meganula have eight limbs, six to support their bodies and two scythe-like forelimbs designed to carve into foes. Despite this, they do not count as arachnids, due to having antennae, wings, and three body segments instead of an arachnid’s two.
Queens resemble much larger versions of their brood, only with more bloated tails with wider stingers in the adult stage and patterns of orange all across their carapaces in both stages. The greater size of the tail is due to the stinger doubling as an ovipositor.
The Meganulon and Meganula that accompanied Megaguirus resembled their unmutated counterparts, only with green and yellow carapaces alongside blue eyes in both forms. Their scythes looked almost metallic. When damaged, a blue, gelatinous material would leak out, moving as if it had a mind of its own.
Megaguirus however, looked drastically different from her normal kind. Her carapace was almost black, with patterns of red and a far greater bulk accompanying it. Her four wings were sharp, grey, and leathery instead of the translucent, gossamer limbs of her sisters. Instead of scythes, her forelimbs bore claws like that of a crab’s, coated in jagged points. Her other limbs ended in wicked sets of claws. Instead of mandibles, Megaguirus’ jaws were reptilian, looking suspiciously like Godzilla’s, with sharp chitin spikes replacing the teeth. Her eyes remained blue, a piercing azure. Orange orbs were embedded all across her limbs, the most prominent being those running down the lengthy tail, which culminated in a treacherous five-pronged stinger. These orbs would glow whenever she channeled energy, and if broken would leak the same blue substance found within her brood.
Personality
There is little different between Meganula and ants in terms of personality. Everything they do is in service of the colony, with protecting and feeding their Queen and her eggs being the top priority. The mutated brood of Megaguirus were similar in this regard, the difference coming from how their Queen acted instead of anything to do with them.
Megaguirus was sadistic and destructive, destroying and eating everything in her sight with reckless abandon. Instead of trying to settle in one spot and build a hive, she and her swarm moved constantly. Against opposing kaiju Megaguirus took great joy in draining them of their essence, and even greater joy in laying her eggs inside them and watching the resulting gruesomeness.
Powers
Meganulon and Larval Queens lack any special abilities, aside from an ability to spray fluid from their maws which hardens into the material making up the hive, and is also often used to restrain prey for later feeding.
Meganula and Imago Queens
Flight: Meganula can fly surprisingly fast for a creature of their size, letting them surprise prey with swift strikes. The imago queens retain this trait, often creating gigantic winds with their passing over.
Venom: The ancient insectoids can inject venom into a target through their tail stinger, a neurotoxin that makes bodily functions shut down.
Ovipositor: Meganula drones are incapable of laying eggs due to being biologically male, however Meganula Queens’ tails double as an ovipositor. They are capable of using it to lay eggs inside of another living creature, however this is used rarely and only in instances where a supply of food for the hatchlings would not be readily available.
Megaguirus was far more willing to utilize her ovipositor as a weapon, Fire Rodan only being spared the grisly fate by his immense internal body temperature killing the eggs before they could hatch.
Mutated Meganulon and Meganula
In addition to all the powers of their standard versions, the brood of Megaguirus displayed a few key differences.
Absorption: These Meganula’s tails can drain fluids from a target, often being used at the same time as venom injection to ensure maximum damage. They are also capable of injecting stolen fluids into another target, in this case the husk of their queen’s larva.
Biological Ooze: Instead of blood, the insectoids have a blue ooze inside of their bodies which supports their vital functions. Bafflingly, this substance appears to be just as alive as the insectoids themselves, as shown with it reaching out from the body and grasping severed body parts to utilize them as they would be used normally. Some soldiers involved in the battles reported seeing multiple of the creatures merged together by this ooze, forming blobs with thrashing limbs and heads, however this has yet to be confirmed as true.
Even more confusingly, Megaguirus’ body was not completely filled with this substance, only the orange orbs on her body were. However the consistency of her shed blood suggests that it was slowly overtaking her, and likely would have fully assimilated her had she not been eliminated when she was. This is part of why the search for the remnants of the horde is so fierce, as the possibility of one of them developing into a Queen fully imbued with this substance is a frightening one.
Megaguirus
In addition to all the previous powers, including an immensely fast top flight speed of Mach 8, with short bursts exceeding Mach 15, Megaguirus displayed multiple abilities unique to her.
High Frequency Wingbeats: Megaguirus’ wings beat so swiftly and fiercely that they generated waves which disrupted technology. This could also be utilized offensively on purpose, the vile queen flapping her wings so ferociously that it sent out tangible waves of damaging sound and wind, sufficient to tear into stone and cause internal hemorrhaging in nearby lifeforms.
Sonic Boom: Megaguirus could fly swiftly enough to seemingly disappear from sight in short bursts, with this often causing disorienting and damaging shockwaves as a side effect.
Sonic Sphere: By focusing the High Frequency Wingbeats directly in front of herself, Megaguirus could form an orb of soundwaves which could then be launched at targets. It was powerful enough to knock Fire Rodan out of the air, and its explosion was as loud as volcanic eruption.
Stolen Rays: If Megaguirus absorbed fluids from a foe that could fire beams of energy, she was capable of discharging those beams herself using the stolen energy. This would manifest from her maw, as shown when she used Fire Rodan’s rays against him and the surroundings.
She could even incorporate these into the Sonic Sphere, forming the projectile and unleashing a ray into it, where it would be captured and diffused across the orb to transform it into a deadlier weapon.

This needs to be a damn
movie. A whole budget, a script, cast and crew, everything.
This is a Jet Jaguar story worthy of the big screen.

Do... Do I smell Jet Jaguar/Red Ronin hybrid? That is friggin' brilliant, this whole idea is on another level. Making the small and giant forms two separate entities connected wirelessly is a really smart way to go about it, as well as giving a new spin on the two of 'em respectively. Stellar work, man! Speaking of, I need to get back to this.... Even with just a random-mer.
Thank ya both!

Bagan, Brother of Bakan
The End
Very intriguing, same with the Bakan you created earlier.
