Fan-Made Kaiju Redesign Thread

Who remembers these ancient pieces of fanart? They were made by Cheunchungtat back in 2010 and 2011. (the last one being the one made in 2011)





Looking back, they're all a bit edgy to really make good Godzilla redesigns, but on their own, they're still pretty neat looking.

These are the kinds of art that I just enjoy, even though they’re kinda over the top, too spiky, and impractical. The quill-covered Godzilla is just cool looking. And they’re all drawn/painted competently, so they’re enjoyable in that sense.

Big fan of the first two. My opinion for the third depends on if it's supposed to be SpaceGodzilla or another rendition of the big G.

very good stuff. quill-feathered godzilla is, in my personal take, a highly underexplored take on Godzilla. everybody just goes with a generic, often shrinkwrapped and outdated looking theropod and then makes it into Godzilla with little to no thought. i think a take on Godzilla going less off of JP rejects and more going on stuff like Briah Engh's theropods or CM Koseman's dinosaur depictions would be a very interesting take on the Big G.

Looks a hell of a lot like Matt Frank’s work.

The shading and detailing is clearly inspired by Matt Frank, but the anatomy, pose, and general technical execution is nowhere near his level.

Maybe my eyes are just failing me but I don't see MosuGoji here besides the eyebrows. The rest of the head reminds me more of DaisensoGoji.

I'm a big fan of the Pixiv Gigan. Not so much for Space-Dragon's design, although I won't say I dislike it exactly.

i love how weird both are. Gigan's a derpy ass weirdo with a murderous streak. too many people try to make gigan an edgy try hard and then it just kinda ruins Gigan's whole thing.

Do you think it's also possible that that version of the Nebulans discovered anti-gravity on their version of Space Hunter Nebula M and used it for that version of Gigan?

That's definitely an option as well. Now that I think about it, floating probably fits this design more than powered flight.
