Chapter 1: Awakening No, not fire emblem

Deep beneath the ocean waves, far below the surface, a slumbering giant awoke. Shifting himself slightly, blazing orange eyes piercing the murky water around him, a titan of mythical proportions raised himself up out of his resting position. How long had it been since he had gone to sleep? Had the surface world changed since his absence? So many questions, so many things he needed answers to. With a motion of his powerful tail, the being swam up out of the deep oceanic waters and into a bright light that rotated like a whirlpool. White encompassed his vision for a few brief moments before the familiar sight of deep blue water came into view again. A low rumble emanated from the being as he swam up, higher and higher until he breached the surface, taking in a breath of air. From what he could tell, the surface world hadn’t changed much. The sun was rising in the distance, casting a warm orange glow on both the water and the being’s form. The titan took a long moment to watch the sun before sensing….something. Whatever it was, it was odd, as it wasn’t another potential rival. At the same time, it didn’t quite have the mark of the strange creatures who made odd devices and lived in large rectangular blocks of metal. Whatever this was, it intrigued him. Diving beneath the waves again, the titan let out a loud underwater roar, signifying himself to the world he swore to keep balance for.

Godzilla was on the move again.

“I can’t believe this Ayanami,” said destroyer Yukikaze as she turned around to look at her friend. “The talents of Yukikaze the great could be put to much better use than simple routine patrols-nanoda.”
“Try to watch where you’re going, it wouldn’t do to have you crashing into something at this speed.” Ayanami replied flatly. “There may not appear to be anything out here, but we should always be on guard dess.”
“Yukikaze-sama has no need- Uah!” she was cut off by the sound of herself crashing down into the water. She rolled a short distance, splashing water all over Ayanami before coming to a stop. Ayanami was about to reach her hand down to help her up, only to suddenly grip the hilt of her blade, looking around. “A-Ayanami, what is it?” She waited a moment before responding
“...Something doesn’t feel right.” The lucky ship scrambled to her feet, even more confused than her companion, “The demon,” was.

A slight shift in the water current solidified the two’s suspicions. A ripple slid towards Yukikaze and Ayanami as a dark shape began to approach them. Yukikaze was the first to see it. She gave the back of Ayanami’s top a light tug, pointing at the shape when Ayanami glanced over in response. She pulled her sword out, while Yukikaze practically hid behind her.

“Looks like this isn’t just a routine patrol anymore Yuki.”
“C-clearly this is nothing worth reporting. The great and f-fearless Yukikaze would never cower before something as obviously not scary as this.” She lied.

Out of the water, 3 rows of maple-leaf shaped dorsal plates breached the surface, water flowing off the over 15 feet high structures. Whatever it was, it stayed stationary, casting an ominous presence over the two.

“Get ready to run. We have no clue what we’re up against, for all we know it could be a new kind of Siren weapon. The higher ups will want to know about this...” She had entered her battle stance, ready to make her move the moment the opportunity presented itself. She was also prepared to drag Yukikaze along should she prove she hadn’t done the same.

Without warning, whatever the thing was moved again, rising up out of the water. A spray of water flew off of the thing, which was revealed...to be the tip of a tail. Ayanami backed up, pulling Yukikaze with her, as she tried to take in what she was looking at. Slowly but surely. The rest of the owner of the tail’s colossal form rose like a living mountain out of the water, enormous dorsal fins lining his back. Turning around, the titanic monstrosity spotted Yukikaze and Ayanami, his eyes colored a blazing orange.

At this point Anayami was the one losing her composure, and it was Yukikaze who grabbed onto her and bolted, crying out unintelligibly as she dragged Ayanami across the water, trying to get away as fast as possible. The titanic beast let out an ear splitting roar as he dove beneath the waves, sending up an enormous splash of water that rained down on Yukikaze and Ayanami. However, for seemingly no reason that wave suddenly turned in on itself, stopping short of them. Yukikaze hardly noticed and kept speeding away. The titan suddenly erupted out of the water in front of the two, roaring again as his frame blocked their path. This happened at the precise moment she looked back to see if it was following them, so she crashed right into it, hitting her head and once again falling to the surface of the water. Eying the two insignificant beings in front of him, the titan growled in a low tone as he leaned down to inspect them before letting out another roar right in their proximity.

“...ahh!!” screamed both destroyers- though one was much louder than the other- and they both slowly moved back. ‘Seems like running isn’t really an option…’ was the only thought they shared. The titan examined the two carefully. Seems they weren’t the ones that he had sensed in the first place...the titan huffed as he turned around and dove beneath the surface of the water, sending up another huge wave. The girls looked at each other right afterwards, trying to process what had just transpired.

“WH-what just happened?” Asked Yukikaze, to which Ayanami shook her head. Over the next few moments, they managed to catch their breaths, and with a silent nod they picked themselves up and started making their way back to base.

Chapter 2: Second encounter

Zuikaku and her sister were there to greet the scared destroyers as they pulled into port. Yukikaze climbed out of the water, her eyes full of fearful tears, and gave Shoukaku a big hug. Shoukaku enveloped Yukikaze in her warmth to help comfort her, while she asked Ayanami what’d happened.

“A monster? Are you sure?” asked Zuikaku, to which both Ayanami and Yukikaze nodded.
“It was huge! N-nothing Yukikaze the great couldn’t handle of course, but still huge…”
“Where did you see it? Me and Zuikaku can go check it out if you like.” Shoukaku crouched down next to her.
“Shouldn’t we inform our seniors? They’ll probably want to hear about this.”
“We can’t bother the glorious first and second carrier divisions. I’m sure they have plenty better to do~” Sarcasm. “We’ll take a couple other girls and take a look for you, how does that sound?” In response, Ayanami shook her head.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s huge. We only got away because it left on it’s own…” Yukikaze showed her agreement with intense nodding.
“It’s probably not as strong as it looked, use all of us as an example. Are any of us very large? No, but we’re all still pretty strong.”
“...I guess that's true.”
“See? It’ll be fine. Those senpai of ours don’t need to get involved. We’ll be able to handle this on our own.”
“If you’re sure, we’ll trust you.”
“You two just go find some way to relax, and leave everything to us. We’ll be back before you know it, and prove this whole thing was nothing.” Shoukaku had done a good job calming Yukikaze down.
“You should know you have the full confidence of Yukikaze the great! I’ll await your good news-nanoda.”
“Come on Yuki, let’s go.” Ayanami beckoned, excited to get her mind off all this.

Once the two destroyers had left, Shoukaku and Zuikaku made their preparations to head out. They’d selected another girl to accompany them, and went to go check things out.

The fifth carrier division sent out the first of their scout planes as they arrived where Yukikaze and Ayanami had supposedly seen a monster. They were skeptical, but were willing to give their word the benefit of the doubt.
“I should have just stayed in port…” Remarked Yuubari with a yawn. They’d asked her to come along in case anyone was injured, and so here she was.
“Are you sure there's a monster lurking around here?”
“We can’t be sure, but that doesn't mean we shouldn’t look,” Zuikaku told her sister.’

Nearby, the crystal clear water’s surface seemed...different, somehow. A white trail of semi-foamy water seemed to suggest something had passed earlier.
“Hmmm? Maybe you should have a little more faith in them. Look at this.” Yuubari was the only one who’d noticed.
“What do you mean?”
“There’s a wake, something big was here not too long ago.”
“Hm...I guess they really were telling the truth.”

Meanwhile, the scout planes that the fifth carrier division had sent out had chanced upon something. A large, three pronged row of gigantic maple-leaf shaped dorsal plates cutting a path through the water. Upon the discovery, the scout planes unloaded their guns upon the enormous dorsal plates. Unfortunately, the owner of the dorsal plates paid no mind to the scout planes and simply swung his massive tail in a wide, sweeping arc to destroy each of them in one go. As the tail hit the water and sank under the water, the jagged dorsal plates dipped and disappeared beneath the waves, heading towards where the fifth carrier division was stationed.

Godzilla was coming.

“...I’ve lost the scout planes, and whatever destroyed them is heading in our direction.”
“What!? Prepare for battle everyone!” Zuikaku drew her sword, and both her and Shoukaku started launching their planes.

As the planes neared the approaching Godzilla, they dropped their payload of bombs onto the titan, but the kaiju evaded the attack easily by simply diving beneath the water and resurfacing after the bombs stopped dropping. In response the carriers switched to torpedo bombers, launching several of them that fired a wave of torpedoes at Godzilla. Godzilla sneered as he let them hit his massive form. Had humans regressed since he had last seen them? Shrugging the torpedo assault off, Godzilla continued to approach the fifth carrier division, his massive tail propelling him forwards.

“None of this is working… I suggest we run.” Said Yuubari, as she prepared her equipment.
“We’re just getting started, let’s do this!” The sisters increased each other’s power, Zuikaku’s rising even higher as time progressed. While Shoukaku played her flute, adding even more as they both launched more planes. Yuubari shook her head, and joined the attack with her prototype main cannons.

As the blast from Yuubari’s guns hit Godzilla’s dorsal plates, the kaiju growled in annoyance from the attack. The titan king dove farther beneath the surface until nothing could be garnered about where exactly he was. It didn’t take a genius to know what Godzilla’s plan was… but they had someone who was pretty close to one so that made it even easier. The three girls scattered, intent on not getting attacked from below.

All was silent…until Godzilla erupted from beneath the surface with a roar, half of the titanic Kaiju’s body being seen as he fell back into the water, sending up a gigantic wave. Zuikaku barely made it out of the way, but the sheer force of the wave created was enough to cause a heavy blow, knocking the breath out of her and sending her flying.
Meanwhile, Godzilla’s dorsal plates breached the surface again as he circled back for more. Zuikaku landed, and laid there atop the water, nearly motionless. Godzilla neared the prone Zuikaku and rose out of the waves, water cascading off of him like a waterfall.

“Zuikaku!” Shoukaku called out. Meanwhile, Godzilla hissed in a low tone as he eyed Zuikaku before turning around and headed in the direction of Shoukaku. Yuubari watched the exchange carefully, trying to come up with a way out of this. Shoukaku was too frozen with fear to do much more than stare at her sister. As Godzilla neared her, Yuubari put the pieces together. Once Godzilla had neutralized the threat that was Zuikaku, he no longer cared about her nor showed aggression towards her. Why was that the case?

As Godzilla neared Shoukaku, the titan’s surprisingly advanced mind raced with thoughts. These….things, they looked like humans, yet fought with the weapons of those metal constructs that were of great annoyance to him in the past. What were these things exactly? Godzilla could tell they came from what he was searching for, but were not the root of the problem. They were just pawns in the grand scheme that was taking place. However, this whole debacle made the titan uneasy. Just what are these pawns being controlled by? Godzilla knew he had to figure out what was behind all of this, and eliminate it.

“Shoukaku, I have a plan. Trust me.” Yuubari pulled out her Prototype Type-0 main gun and shot Shoukaku, blowing her up and disabling her. With a slight sigh, she shot herself as well, leaving the both of them more or less too damaged to fight any further.

Godzilla rose out of the water in front of Shoukaku, narrowing his eyes at the downed aircraft carrier. Turning his body slightly, Godzilla also eyed Yuubari. Seeing that both had surrendered, Godzilla huffed in slight respect. Good, they had submitted. Seeing no reason to remain here, Godzilla submerged himself again and swam away.

As soon as she was sure Godzilla was really gone, Yuubari started to repair herself so she wouldn’t sink, and made her way over to Zuikaku, supporting her for the same reasons. Shoukaku was well enough to remain conscious, and slowly joined the other two.

“Hmm.. looks like I was right. Once it didn’t see us as a threat it left us alone.”
“But did you really have to shoot me? Nevermind… Will Zuikaku be alright?” Yuubari nodded.
“Mm. But we need to find somewhere we can rest, I’ll be able to work better on solid ground.” Luckily, one of Shoukaku’s planes was still airborne, so she sent it out to search for any sort of land nearby. Hopefully they’d be able to return home before anyone back at base started worrying about them.
