Your Gaming History

Post by gvamp »

So not really sure what to call this topic but basically I thought of a fun little topic/game to see what everyone's history with video games is. I'm sort of inspired by post I saw a on Facebook by this but decided to expand on it. So basically you just answer the questions which I'll leave blank so people can copy and past in their response

1. What is the first video game you played?
2. What is your favorite video game of all time?
3. What is the best video game you've played this year?
4. What is your favorite video game franchise?
5. What is your favorite video game genre?
6. What is your least favorite video game genre?

My answers as are
1. Something on the Atari 2600, I think Dig Dug or Frogger.
2. The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt damn near perfection in a game.
3. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition so far.
4. Easily Resident Evil followed closely by The Legend of Zelda.
5. It used to be FPS but I'm leaning more toward RPGs or Action/Adventure games now.
6. Simulation racing games. I just have never been good at them.

If I come up with any other questions I'll edit this post. Also if someone can think of a better topic title please let me know and I'll edit it.

1. What is the first video game you played?
- Pretty sure it was Duck Hunt on the NES. Either that, or Mario Bros., that one where they were a packaged deal. But I'm almost positive it was Duck Hunt.
2. What is your favorite video game of all time?
- Not sure these days. Super Smash Bros. Melee topped my list for years, but I also haven't played it in years. Sometimes I'm curious if the gameplay is as frantic as I remember.
3. What is the best video game you've played this year?
- Revisited Super Mario Galaxy recently, and that still holds up tremendously well. However, I've been having the most fun with Genshin Impact so far.
4. What is your favorite video game franchise?
- The Smash Bros. games are the ones I look forward to most when they're announced, and I love to play the latest installments. Ultimate has already stolen many an hour.
5. What is your favorite video game genre?
- RPG. I simply love the mindless, tedious nature of grinding for levels in these kinds of games. I get lost in them for days. Less of the tactical kind, more of the traditional ones with party members, side quests, and plenty of world to explore after the game is finished.
6. What is your least favorite video game genre?
- FPS. Don't care at all for playing things like CoD or Half-Life, though some streams are really enjoyable to watch depending on the banter.

1. Super Mario 64
2. I have so many favorites, but I'm gonna have to say Halo: Combat Evolved.
3. Final Fantasy IX. Technically, I first played it in 2017, but didn't finally finished it until last June.
4. Final Fantasy, with Halo being my second.
5. Shooters, but I also like turn-based and tactical RPGs and hack-and-slash games.
6. Those dumb games that involve playing with and taking care of animals. I also dislike party and sports games. There is literally no reason of me to play them.

Also, may I suggest a question about consoles and which ones we currently own, use to own and want to buy?

1. What is the first video game you played?
It was either Crash Bandicoot or Spyro the Dragon. I don't remember.

2. What is your favorite video game of all time?
I have the most emotional attachment to Skyrim, but World of Warcraft is the game I play most often.

3. What is the best video game you've played this year?
Maneater and Mortal Shell are the only games that came out this year I cared about. I like both of them; not sure which one I like more.

4. What is your favorite video game franchise?
The Elder Scrolls.

5. What is your favorite video game genre?
RPG.

6. What is your least favorite video game genre?
I don't play sidescrollers (though I have a soft spot for the DKC games) and those battle royale things.

1. What is the first video game you played?
The Lost World: Jurassic Park, for the PS1. Hard fucking game to start out with...

2. What is your favorite video game of all time?
Dragon Age: Origins, easy. It's a high concept epic fantasy RPG that hit all the right notes.

3. What is the best video game you've played this year?
Maneater, pretty much on virtue of being the ONLY 2020 video game I played. 90% of modern console gaming is exploitative garbage, fueled by abusive crunch hours or infected with uncountable micro-transactions and weighed down with tedious, manipulative grinds. So I haven't exactly been eager to play any games released in this year.

Assuming the question just means any game I played this year, rather than specifically 2020 releases? I guess I played Crash Team Racing a bit... but I hesitate to call it "the best" due to the microtransactions that were snuck in two months after release, after the company specifically went on record saying they wouldn't be in there. The game itself is fine – or *was* fine. Then the greedy, slimy, rat-fucking shitstains broke their promise and took a gigantic wet crap all over what was otherwise a perfect game. Too late to return it now, the shady fucks have my money. They never will get it again, though. Still, simply because I haven't played many games this year, CTR is the best by default, despite how pissed off I am at the company.

4. What is your favorite video game franchise?
This one is hard. A while back I would have quickly said Dragon Age, but EA is a total piece of shit and I have not a single shred of faith that the 4th game will be anything but a horrible, lootbox-filled multi-player mess. With my faith in that franchise destroyed, perhaps Spyro? But then again... only the original trilogy is really worthwhile.

I guess, with no other option, the Atari Godzilla trilogy. I still enjoyed Godzilla: Unleashed. And, hell, even Godzilla: Unleashed is still objectively better than the vast majority of children's casinos Triple A video games this past few years. At least Godzilla: Unleashed doesn't cynically prey on your wallet, your gambling addiction, your patience, or your children. It's good, clean fun. And that's a fucking rare thing these days that I find myself appreciating more than ever.

5. What is your favorite video game genre?
RPGs. The kind where you can create and roleplay your own character – Dragon Age, Skyrim, KotR. Games with preset characters like The Witcher, are quite frankly not real RPGs in my book.

6. What is your least favorite video game genre?
Sports games. And music games as a runner up. At most I'll play a racing game, but even then I'll take a kart racer any day of the week.

BONUS:

7. What is the BEST game I ever played?
Journey. The only game I've ever given a 10/10 rating.

Eh, might as well toss my hat into the ring, eh?

1. What is the first video game you played?
My memory is really bad, as much of what I did as a kid has kinda mushed together. But I believe one of, if not THE first video games I ever played was Gradius 3 on the SNES.

2. What is your favorite video game of all time?

Honestly, this is a tough one. Tastes change over time, and I can't say there's any game I can say I've played that is my 100% definitive favorite. I have lots of games I consider my favoriteS, plural, though. If I had to choose though, it'd probably be War of the Monsters or Halo 3.

3. What is the best video game you've played this year?

If Iceborne counts as a new 2020 title, I'll choose that. Easily some of the most fun I've had playing with my friends in a long time. Close follow-ups are Among Us and Jackbox games.

4. What is your favorite video game franchise?

Monster Hunter, no contest. Been playing since the first game back in 2005, been a fan ever since.

5. What is your favorite video game genre?

Probably action roleplaying games.

6. What is your least favorite video game genre?

Sports games. I find them all boring as hell.

And EA and 2K's favorite haven for monetization of every sort, don't forget. Literally everything about the recent sports games are glitchy, unfinished bug ridden messes that flat out never work or are lazily recycled from prior entries, but the in-store menu to buy teams and whatnot work perfectly, wherever it be FIFA or NBA Live or NFL, and all those sports entities fully embrace and endorse the money grubbing cynical predatory nature of those games because that's further money in their pockets :P

1. Frogger (1997)

2. That's a hard one. couldn't tell you. I can however tell you the single game I've logged the most hours in (as of writing this): Breath of the Wild, at 254.

3. Doom Eternal is pretty damn good. best game of 2020.

4. I'm not sure. I'm gonna say Halo.

5. I spend the most time on first person shooters, but I also quite like platformers and open world games.

6. Sports.

1. What is the first video game you played? My Dad had me play Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt on his NES when I was four or five. First game I played on my own was Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee.
2. What is your favorite video game of all time? I can't narrow it down to one. Up there are Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Halo 3, Dead Space 2, The Last of Us, Batman: Arkham City, Bioshock Infinite and Gears of War 3.
3. What is the best video game you've played this year? Pokemon Sword and Doom Eternal. Played way too much of both.
4. What is your favorite video game franchise? A tie between Halo and Pokemon. Both have great nostalgia value for me.
5. What is your favorite video game genre? Shooter games are probably my favorite but survival horror has really grown on me in recent years.
6. What is your least favorite video game genre? Sports games, I have no use for them. Not huge on fighting games (except Smash) either.

1. What is the first video game you played?
I played plenty of computer games when I was little, but I got a GameCube for the purpose of playing Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee. That game captured my imagination as a kid, and given that I am posting here, clearly my love of the big guy stuck.

2. What is your favorite video game of all time?
I think Halo 3. It is just a magical game, and I love it both for nostalgia and downright quality.

3. What is the best video game you've played this year?
I've really just been playing a bunch of Halo this year. I'm looking forward to playing Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

4. What is your favorite video game franchise?
Halo, but I also used to be a big fan of Assassins Creed.

5. What is your favorite video game genre?
Third person action adventure. Assassins Creed, Insomniac Spider-Man, the Arkham series, I love it.

6. What is your least favorite video game genre?
Do phone games count?
Check out my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/atxspider/

It is mostly Spider-Man themed, but I'd love to talk cosplay, lightsaber commissions, and countless other topics.

1. I believe it was Sonic 3 & Knuckles? Absolute masterpiece of a game, imo.

2. That's a bit harder, as I personally have a lot of favorite games that I can't really put in any particular order.

3. Doom Eternal. ID are bloody wizards, honestly.

4. Ninja Gaiden, with Halo right behind.

5. I'll give you my top 3, if that's alright! First person shooters, third person action, and racing games.

6. Sports games, especially with their blatantly scummy and predatory gambling practices that have infested them recently. With these games being rated E, that makes such even worse.

1. What is the first video game you ever played?
Mario Kart Wii, when I was 5. That game was my childhood.

2. What is your favourite video game of all time?
It fluctuates from year to year. Right now, I really love War Thunder. My previous favourite, which was the favourite of four years, was Pokémon Platinum.

3. What is the best video game you’ve played this year?
Is this for 2020 games? If so, DOOM Eternal. If for games I’ve started this year, the aforementioned War thunder fits this category.

4. What is your favourite video game franchise?
Pokémon. I love so many of the Pokémon games.

5. What is your favourite genre of game?
I really like FPS, Vehicular Combat, and Real Time strategy.

6. What is your least favourite genre?
I feel indifferent to sports games, so I choose the typical mobile game genre.

1. I believe it was either Super Mario 64 or Donkey Kong 64

2. It’s impossible to narrow it down to one, so I’ll give a top list

> Minecraft
> Super Smash Bros Ultimate
> Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
> Super Mario Odyssey
> Hades
> Hollow Knight

3. Breath Of The Wild. God, this game is so good.

4. Pokemon!

5. All of them except racing and sports games, really

6. Sports games. All of them suck ass.

2. Tough question but a shoot up between Red Dead Redemption, Pokemon Red & Blue, and Gears of War 2

3. Mostly play Warzone these days: however, best game I have played this year is Doom Eternal.

4. Super Smash Bros ( been playing it since the 64)

5. FPS

6. Mobile games (Temple Run, Angry Birds, etc)

3. What is the best video game you've played this year?
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

4. What is your favorite video game franchise?
Batman: Arkham. I've played the trilogy countless times.

5. What is your favorite video game genre?
Action/Adventure.

6. What is your least favorite video game genre?
I wanted to say mobile games, but that's not a genre, it's a platform with several genres within it. So sports I guess?
