Yeah i hate this poop. I watched Dead Meat's video on Jack Frost (if you're a fan of horror films, you have to watch this guy, he's so good!) and i felt so dirty when it came to that scene whereDestoroyah of Worlds wrote:Any movie with rape scenes in it like The HIlls Have Eyes and I Spit on Your Grave. Don't forget The Last House on the Left (1972) when it comes to films with rape scenes.Destoroyah of Worlds wrote:Any movie with rape scenes in it like The HIlls Have Eyes and I Spit on Your Grave. I find it disgusting and triggering.
There are a handful of movies i just don't give a crap about because they look bad. Like the ghostbusters reboot and boss baby.

The Hills Have Eyes is no where near as bad Last House On The Left, the whole point of the latter is the rape and murder. The Hills is more about survival.mikelcho wrote:Don't forget The Last House on the Left (1972) when it comes to films with rape scenes.Destoroyah of Worlds wrote:Any movie with rape scenes in it like The HIlls Have Eyes and I Spit on Your Grave. It's weird - I don't mind stuff like Deliverance, Last House on the Left, Hills Have Eyes (which I like more than Last House - I also really enjoyed the remake) and I Spit on Your Grave. I mean, obviously those have awful scenes, it's just the really obnoxious try-hard crap like Cannibal Holocaust, Serbian Film and Human Centipede I can't stand.

Agree with you there. This the scariest thing about Deliverance is Burt Reynolds he not having his mustache.tbeasley wrote:It's weird - I don't mind stuff like Deliverance, Last House on the Left, Hills Have Eyes (which I like more than Last House - I also really enjoyed the remake) and I Spit on Your Grave. He derives all his power from it, that's why he's so vulnerable in that movie.

Yeah i don't think i'm gonna see Human Centipede either. I can watch a lot of disturbing poop, but for whatever reason i can't stand even looking at a picture of that movie.

I'm a believer that with horror, there should be a "no holds barred" approach where anything and everything is on the table. Its called horror for a reason.
That said, Human Centipede is one where I'm like "Nah, I'm good". lol.

Sausage Party.
I don't get the praise this movie gets for criticizing religion. Yeah Silent Hill 3, a game, did that back in the early 2000s without resorting to the humor of a 12 year old who thinks he's some comedic genius.
Where as Humanoids from the Deep is just mean spirited and the rapes just seem to happen for the sake of happening. If you enjoy Humanoids from the Deep, The Hills Have Eyes or The Last House on the Left, not saying you should feel bad or are a bad person, just that it might leave a bad taste in some people's mouths.

Horror can be used to talk about things that are really awful issues in real life that need to be dealt with that aren't but I think the problem people are having with the rape examples they listed is that they aren't really saying anything about rape, they're just used as shock factor. It's the difference between Haunting Ground, Elfen Lied and Humanoids from the Deep. Critics hated Haunting Ground saying Fiona was needlessly sexualized and it had nothing to do with the plot, completely missing the point that she was kidnapped, forced into those clothes and her captors plan to impregnate her (sort of, weird magic stuff happens in that game) and the whole point is for her to regain control over her body by escaping. Elfen Lied, as heavily flawed as that anime is, did a pretty good job of showing how isolating victim blaming can be, a girl who was being raped repeatedly by her step dad finally gained the courage to tell her mom only to be slapped in the face and have her mother blame her for it because she's irrational jealous which leads to the girl running away from home cause she has no one to turn to as well as wear less then flattering clothes.GojiDog wrote:I'm a believer that with horror, there should be a "no holds barred" approach where anything and everything is on the table. I'm glad someone said it. Sausage Party is so fucking stupid that it's painful to watch. One of my dumbass college friends thought it was the most hilarious thing ever and went to see it like five times. I couldn't even watch to the end on my first attempt. Honestly, way too many shitty adult animated comedies seem to be getting free passes from critics these days. If critics were half as harsh on animated films as they are toward action movies, maybe so many pieces of garbage like this wouldn't be pulling in enough revenue to encourage other douchebags to keep making more of them. The fact that Sausage Party surpassed the South Park movie as the highest-grossing R-rated animated film of all time just aggravates the shit out of me.Living Corpse wrote:Sausage Party.

I couldn't finish Sausage Party. The novelty of cartoon characters swearing up a storm wore off pretty quickly and it just became annoying.
The South Park movie used its cursing as a way to tackle the whole message of censorship and it was actually vital to the story, oddly enough. Sausage Party felt like I was watching idiots from college trying way too hard to be cool and funny.

A friend of mine let me share his Netflix subscription until it got too expensive and he had to drop it (he died much later) and through it, I saw The Human Centipede trilogy.tyrantgoji wrote:Yeah i don't think i'm gonna see Human Centipede either. Let me just say I'm glad it's only a trilogy. I watched each film once and I thought "This just isn't right."
Same with the first two Hostel films. I saw both of their unrated director's cuts and, once again, I knew this wasn't right.
"Right" just means it didn't appeal to me at all.
Oh yeah, I absolutely hated Revenge of the Stepford Wives. That made-for-TV film's plot had no connection to the original classic at all. It kept me from watching The Stepford Children and The Stepford Husbands, not that I would've wanted to watch them, anyway.
And don't even get me started on the remake of The Stepford Wives! Seriously, you do not take one of the scariest horror films I've ever seen and turn it into a black comedy, it just isn't done, nor should it have been in the first place.

Oh, and I tried watching Movie 43 on Netflix a few years ago, I turned it off at about the 20 minute mark. I'm not even gonna attempt to finish that wretched film. What blows my mind is how they managed to convince all those A-list actors to sign on for that in the first place.

The story I was told (read: entertaining idea but probably bullshit) was the directors litteralally got a few A list actors and then started reaching out to others saying, "hey be in this film you know who else is in it? Weve got X" And continuing to do this as the cast grew more and more impressive.KManX89 wrote:Well, yeah, basically torture porn.Destoroyah of Worlds wrote:Any movie with rape scenes in it like The HIlls Have Eyes and I Spit on Your Grave. Off the top of my head:
'Godzilla's Revenge'
'Ghostbusters' 2016
'The Lego Batman Movie'
'Transformers: The Last Knight'
'TMNT' 2014
The last two films in the Godzilla Anime Trilogy
Most of the live action disney remakes (I made the mistake of seeing 'Maleficent' and actually enjoyed 'The Jungle Book' 2016)
