But the justice system has rules for a reason, and if they were dumb enough to get an admission out of him years ago in exchange for whatever they wanted from him then, and the terms of the deal are that they now can't try him for those particular crimes, legally they cannot use the testimony he gave under that deal for the trial he was convicted at.
So not only did they botch justice once, by making sure he wasn't tried then, but twice by going through with the trial and conviction in ignorance, resulting in him being back out on the street, now.
Stuff like this is why I have little to no faith in the law in America.
