Absolutely heartbreaking.. Actually no. Heartbreaking doesn't cover how much of a kick to the balls this is, i just can't think of any other way to put it. The last (or at least one of the last) big person that really helped define the Godzilla franchise just.. Isn't with us anymore. Just kills me inside man. :(

A guy who randomly stumbled upon this place one day, invested much too much time into it, and now appears to be stuck here for all eternity..and strangely enough, i do not regret it!

He was so incredible, larger than life. And the G-Fest moms were all over him! I remember hoping to be like him, if I am lucky enough to reach that age.

So sad. May he rest in peace and may the Lord have mercy on his soul.

I only hope Legendary/Warner Bros. hears about this and finally decides to restore his missing scene to Godzilla (2014) as a fitting tribute to his memory.

The last of the mohicans is gone as they say. RIP, because Gojira is one of those movies where of we don't have every single person that helped bring it to life it doesn't work and we don't have a franchise.

Really wish his scene in G14 would be released. Also we are truly in a new era for Godzilla now.

Living to 87 and being in good mind and health to my knowledge is something to celebrate. And knowing he he'd so many people with his work, that's something to be proud of.

They're not going to do that, and I think it would be a better tribute to his memory if people stopped bringing it up. I heard Takarada didn't even care.

Just rewatched Invasion of Astro-Monster the other day too, I'd forgotten how much I loved his dynamic with Nick Adams. While his 1954 role is the most iconic, his character in Astro-Monster has to be my favorite that he played.

Rest in peace, Akira Takarada. You live on in the hearts of millions.

How is that silly? He lived an amazing, fulfilling life, bringing joy to countless people throughout the world. That, to me, is inspirational in itself! We should all strive to be a little like Akira Takarada!

Idk, I feel like some people would laugh at me being in tears over an actor in the "guy in a rubber suit" movies.

Cry if it makes you feel better. There are going to be people that laugh or critique you for every choice you make in life.

They didn't know him like we did! Screw them! I'm sure he would honestly be happy that this many people cared about his life. He was so fantastic towards the fans.

Trying to decide what movie to watch tonight in his honor.

And those people would be immature fools. Don't take their opinions seriously for a second.
