Experienced recently in a Predator fan page on FB. But just a bunch of dudes freaking out about Prey having a female lead and just how they can't see her beating a Predator. Yeah I can't see how a young hunter is going to best a Predator, it's not like Dutch and Royce both beat their Predator match ups by simply using primitive hunting tactics and tools. I wouldn't say THE most toxic, but they're the most recently toxic.

The Evangelion death threat legend has been exaggerated to a degree (there's like one among these with anything resembling that but not specific

And as you can see, these are meant to represent the type of fan communications they got but are themselves created by Anno's friend for use in the film for legal reasons.

There was some online hostility, chatter about how some poster(s?) would kill Anno. But not directed at or sent to anyone specifically, AFAIK. He references this in Hideaki Anno: The Final Challenge of Evangelion. My guess is this is behind the "Anno, I'll kill you!" letter included in the film, representative of how seeing that sentiment online affected him.
