Two well preserved Cave Lion cubs that were discovered in Russia a few years ago, have recently been unveiled:

A new study on Parasaurolophus cyrtocristatus (the famous New Mexican short crest species) has discovered in actuality, the short crested specimens we have seem to be subadults....and in actuality, cyrtocristatus was a normal crested parasaur that, based on estimates of the skull we have, was 43 feet long and 13 tons

...and people think crests are why I love hadrosaurs.

Well, I, for one, welcome our new BIG! Parasaurolophus overlords.

I was just watching a video about unknown unknowns in paleontology the other day, and then this happens. Here we have one of the most familiar of dinosaurs, staple of bargain bin toy lines and coloring books and oatmeal boxes. We think we know it well... and then it turns out to be fucking huge. What else don't we know?

Oh lawd that is a big boi

Speaking of big bois, i did some research on prehistoric crocodiles yesterday.. and now i'm suddenly wondering why it's almost always Deinosuchus and Sarchosuchus getting portrayed in media. Purrusaurus deserves love!

A guy who randomly stumbled upon this place one day, invested much too much time into it, and now appears to be stuck here for all eternity..and strangely enough, i do not regret it!

People always act like hadrosaurs were hunted by tyrannosaurs because they were defenseless.

They don't realize ONE adult would feed them for like a month lol.

Agreed fully.

Sadly, without breaking the laws of accuracy, we can't have it eaten dinosaurs and that's a deal breaker for most paleomedia creators

Likely because Deinosuchus & Sarcosuchus are dino contemporaries, while Purussaurus and fellow contemporary Gryposuchus hail from a time humans would much rather view as completely free of Mesozoic-sized reptiles for presumably collective sanity reasons.

What was the source for this, out of curiosity? I would've thought a cool discovery like this would be making headlines by now, but I haven't seen anything yet. Even a little bit of searching hasn't turned anything up.

For real, that's pretty cool.
