That'd be great. And with a potential multiplayer component, Godzilla as P1 and Mothra as P2?... Actually, nix that, Nintendo's online is trash. But a re-release would still be cool.ROMG4 wrote:I wonder if this game will ever get a remaster/re-release some day on the Nintendo Switch like a lot of other NES games

Re: Godzilla: Monster of Monsters (NES)
Playing Monster of Monsters, to me, is like when I finally played Mega Man 1.
Full of flaws, but the potential was through the roof, and a sequel to sand the rough edges off would be amazing. Fortunately, with Mega Man, that potential was realized. Mega Man got Mega Man 2, one of my personal favorite games of all time, and that's to say nothing for the other great sequels that came out, including the Mega Man X series.
Sadly, MoM never got a 2. All the potential in the world and instead we got a completely different game that went against what the first had done.
If they had fixed some of the issues (constant black background, less repetitive levels, having to fight Gezora, Moguera, and every other monster multiple times, an unseen time limit during boss fights, etc.) and maybe if they had added a multiplayer component and given us more "Good" monsters to choose from (I'm still bummed Rodan and Anguirus didn't make the cut), a sequel or even a full fledged series could have been amazing.

Time limits on the fights didn't bother me as it saved my ass several times.
My secret is that I always use Mothra to fight Gigan and Mechagodzilla. Position yourself right and you'll take minimal damage. Godzilla is just too big of a target for those 2.

Nah, Godzilla is boss. I beat the whole game with him. Only brought Mothra along because I had to. Tail swipes did wonders against tough foes.Tyrant_Lizard_King wrote:Time limits on the fights didn't bother me as it saved my ass several times.

Agreed. I'll often play through the game as just Godzilla and get someone else to play as Mothra. If I'm playing solo I sometimes just kill Mothra off for the extra challenge or hold her in reserve, sometimes only playing as her to fly to the end of the world after I've killed all the monsters as Godzilla. Am I the only one who prefers starting the game with the Destroy All Monsters code? It makes the game a lot more exciting at the beginning and makes it seem like you're thwarting massive invasion of the Earth before chasing the Xians and their monsters back to Planet X to finish them off once and for all.canofhumdingers wrote:Nah, Godzilla is boss. Best kaiju game ever. Like, seriously, awesome to play and full of cool little nods to the films that make it up. Ten out of ten. Worth waiting for.

Re: Godzilla: Monster of Monsters (NES)
Hello all,
Just thought I would share my memories of this game and a couple of videos I made dedicated to this game that I love so much. My mom bought me this game when I was a very young teenager back in the late 80s. I raced home to pop it into my NES system and for weeks, I played this game daily over and over again. This game was obviously not the greatest NES game ever made. It had it's faults, but for me nothing else came close. As a Godzilla and game fan, this was a perfect combination of the two. I played this game with my cousin and also with my friends, and every single time I had to be Godzilla, no exception! None of my friends nor my cousin were Godzilla fans, so they didn't mind being Mothra. It was an extremely fun and enjoyable game, and everyone who played it with me agreed.
So 25-30 years later, I still have this game. Here is a video I recently made of me unboxing this game after so many years.

Back in the late 80s, I made a screen recording (using my VCR) of me and my cousin playing the game from start to finish. The recording was originally on videocassette, so the quality may not be that great. Here is the link:

Both of these videos I recently uploaded to Odysee, which is a Youtube alternative.
Enjoy!

I'd kill for that button up shirt with all the monster sprites. Anyone know where these can be ordered outside of Japan?

If it’s from the Godzilla store, you can use Buyee. Also, cool to see Anguirus and Rodan on the merch.

Maybe it'll be on the Godzilla Store at a future date, at this time there's a totally different website advertising it with its own store - https://games-glorious.com/news/630cf85 ... 696401acbf
Not sure if you can send in order requests through Buyee if that ends up being the case, but you can certainly place an order through other services such as Japamart or ZenMarket.

Those are awesome! Fwiw not all Godzilla store merch can be bought thru the Buyee storefront. It’s only select items.

I love Godzilla: Monster of Monsters; it’s definitely my favorite Godzilla game. I still have the cartridge, and I’d reckon it still works even though its been a while since I played it. And on the topic of related merchandise, still regretting not buying that NECA Godzilla NES figure while it was available.

Popping in to share I've imported the Games Glorious mini acrylic figures if anyone is interested. You have two options: guaranteed or random.

This is one game I wouldn't mind a remaster or out right remake of.
