The Complete Godzilla Game List & Kaiju Appearance Scorecard

Post by Mr. X »

This is a little project I've been working on for quite a while now.

Over the years, I've found that there's no one source for information on every Godzilla game. There are some sites that do contain most of the games, like TK, but are still missing some games or lack a lot of info on the games and the monsters that appear in them. There's also a lot of inaccuracies on some of the sites I've seen. So I set out to compile a list of not only all the Godzilla video games, but detail what monsters are seen in the games. And I'm going to need some help to complete this list.

Note: Browser games have been excluded from this list. They're less video games and more of quick little promotional tie-ins. The things I include here are full-fledged games and machines. However, you want to include them, just add two appearances to Godzilla (for Godzilla: Crisis Defense and Godzilla: Strike Zone, both done in 2014 for the American film) and one to Baby Godzilla (for Godzilla: Online, done in 1998 for the other American Godzilla film) (not sure if Godzilla himself was in the later).

Without further ado, here are the lists:

======

THE GAMES:
A list of all the games based on Godzilla, including their system(s) and original year of release. This list includes slot machine games. Apps are also included, but small browser games have been excluded. There are a total of 33 Godzilla games.

MONSTER APPEARANCES:
A list of every kaiju seen in each game (specifies alternate forms/incarnations if multiple incarnations appear). In this case, a "cameo" refers only to a character that appears in the game, but does not effect gameplay in any way (such as only appearing in a cutscene). For instance, many kaiju appear in the background of the 1993 Godzilla arcade game, but cannot do anything to the player. Whereas characters like Flying Hedorah in Destroy All Monsters Melee can effect the player (depletes the player's energy), even though they are not playable nor an enemy you must battle. In addition, this list does not include suit appearances, such as Minilla in "CR Godzilla 3S-T Battle"; while the kaiju's suit appears in a cutscene, no model was created for Minilla, and therefore isn't included on the list.

======

While I hope all this info is accurate, I have not been able to play every game here, of course. I have watched a number of playthrough's, but there are a few I have not seen any complete walkthrough's for, so there may be some mistakes (however, I made sure to confirm everyone here do appear within the games I have listed them under; the only mistakes would be that some kaiju are missing, which is very possible).

If you spot any mistakes, no matter how big or small, or have any suggestions on what to add to this list (I'm working on adding whether each monster is playable/unplayable), please don't hesitate to post. I'll need help to ensure that this is the most accurate and complete Godzilla game list and kaiju appearance scorecard on the web. :)

It's interesting looking at the monster history. I mean Hedorah seems like a favorite to throw into the games.

Very amusing to see Giant Serizawa listed under "Original Kaiju" But, what's Metal Godzilla?

Not wanting this topic to go to waste I have a Godzilla section at Pixel Galaxy. Not up to date yet, but the PS3/4 Goji game stuff will go in soon.

I was trying to edit it during the attack and I don't know what the hell happened. Regardless, I still need to tweak a few things I attempted to before. It'll be back up very shortly.

Giant Serizawa is best kaiju.

"Metal Godzilla" is basically a Godzilla with stripes or something on his body. He bears a strong resemblance to a watermelon. I don't know anything about him, though. Such as why he's called Metal Godzilla. I would have of called him Citrulluszilla.

And we're back! Sorry for such a delay, my internet's been off and on.

Had to make a few little edits, and discovered that I missed two monsters during that time. Just goes to show you that some of the resources out there are inaccurate, hence the reason I did this thing to begin with.

Everyone listed here is correct, BTW. I'm looking into having some visuals to accompany each list. If you want pictures of anyone, I should be able to provide them (just a matter of when depending on if I already have them saved or not). However, as stated above, I might've missed a few if I hadn't been able to play the game, so if you spot anything that's missing, please post it here (along with some visual proof if you can, it would help me greatly).

He's from Godzilla: Generations. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures on me at the moment, however, I can try to get one up soon.

Thanks for info, looking forward to see pictures of this thing.

P.S. Wow, never knew there were so much monsters in Generations. I hadnt known about Ritora, Bebira, Chibira, Tsunora, Deburasunora, Junira, Chibikurora and Debura neither. Guess Wikizilla isnt so much informed on this game. Hope to see pictures of them as well.

Oh, wow, this is definitely a first for me. I'm guessing the list of non-Godzilla-incarnation movie monsters (like Rodan and Destoroyah) come from their appearances in the Trailers section of the game, but never heard of those 7 monsters listed above Metal Godzilla. Now I'm very curious about Generations...

By the way, would you consider Movie Studio Tour a game?

To clarify, there are basically two games within Generations. One is the one everyone thinks about when they think about Generations, with the accurate monster models that destroy cities, and the other is the rarely discussed fighter with chibi monsters (think it was called "Monster Colosseum" or something). Most of the models are pretty generic and some miss the mark completely (Moguera immediately comes to mind). The original kaiju are especially bad in this regard, they're just blobs with stubby arms and legs and a face.

Here's an example of what the monsters in this game look like -

Image

And there are 43 monsters in it (possibly 44, looking into that), some of which have only appeared in one other game, such as Desghidorah and Kamoebas (the other game being Trading Battle). Also the only VG appearance of Garu-Garu. I'll see if I can grab some screenshots of everybody.

I'm amazed at how undocumented this part of the game is. There's virtually no information or pictures on it at all. Had to translate the original monsters' names myself.
By the way, would you consider Movie Studio Tour a game?
No, not for this list. I'm only counting games that have their own models and sprites and the like. Only pictures of suits appear in that game.

He'd have to be a Chibi kaiju. I've unlocked every playable character in the main game and he isn't one of them.

Jet Jaguar made a cameo in Godzilla: Battle Legends on Megalon's stage:

Not sure if this counts as a cameo, but Minya/Minilla appears on a rare error message in Battle Legends along with Jet Jaguar as well:

The purple one is Gorosaurus. Not sure why he's purple. A few of the colorizations are off, like Baragon, who's blue.

Metal Godzilla is one of the chibi's, yes. In the normal part of the game, you only have Godzilla 1954, Heisei Godzilla, Godzilla 1998, Mechagodzilla 1974, Minilla, and Giant Serizawa. All of which (save Godzilla 1954 and Serizawa) are also seen in the chibi game. Should probably note that above somehow.

It's a Pachinko Machine, often confused with CR Godzilla 3S-T Battle. There are tons of videos of it, however, none call it by its actual name, I had to translate it myself. Had some pretty kickass models.
