Studio Ghibli, most famous for their award winning Spirited Away (2001), has revealed their next upcoming release. Once again the studio will be adapting another English novel to the big screen as they begin work on Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea saga. The movie, titled Record of the Gedo War: Tales from Earthsea, will be based on the third book in the series, with possible elements from the 4th also being included. However, this movie will not be directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, but will instead mark the directional debut of his son: Goro Miyazaki.

There is no exact word at this time what companies will be involved with the production, but Toho has already been chosen to handle the movie's distribution for a July 2006 release in Japan.
