Throne of Blood Region 1 DVD Released

Criterion has released the Kurosawa masterpiece Throne of Blood (1957) on Region 1 DVD. The DVD boasts some nice extras: contains two, English, subtitled translations of the film, one by Donald Ritchie and the other by Linda Hoaglund along with a explanation of each of their approaches. Contains the original, theatrical, Japanese trailer of Throne of Blood (1957). Includes audio commentary by Japanese-film expert Michael Jeck, in a similar fashion to the commentary found on the Region 1 Seven Samurai DVD. The DVD also includes a 24 page pamphlet containing an essay by Stephen Prince titled The Warrior's Camera: The Cinema of Akira Kurosawa.

Transfer details: Full frame (1.33:1), Dolby Mono, Japanese audio track with removable English subtitles, Black and White.
