Normal Japanese teenage male Shinichi's life is changed when an alien infects his right hand. The alien, which names itself Migi, is part of a widespread invasion of similar aliens--most of which eat the brains of their owners, and then proceed to kill and eat any hapless humans in the vicinity. Shinichi must become accustomed to living with a dangerous talking alien living in his hand while other alien-human hybrids are closing in, menacing him and all those dear to him.

Background and Trivia

  • Based on the manga of the same name by artist and wrtier Hitoshi Iwaaki. The manga ran from 1988 to 1995.
  • The manga was originally licensed by New Line Cinema in 2005, wanting to make a US based production around the concept. However, their option expired in 2013, an event that led to a bidding war in Japan. Eventually Toho managed to secure the rights. This fact was revealed by The Asahi Shimbun Company.
