No, I believe Tomiyama said that he wanted to do a Heisei continuation movie. However, the project was handed over to Kitamura and he wanted to do his own thing.
That's been floating around since 2006. I'm not sure if it's true or not but it would have been better than GFW, probs. |
Thank you, that's what I've been trying to say the whole time.
And Mac, G-Fan isn't that laughable a source, I've seen a few people use it as a source, its a kaiju magazine afterall and this was an interview with the producer of the GFW, so I don't see how he's a laughable source. There's an easy explaination for why they'd bring it back, they decided to go back to what they knew was successful, considering the Millinium films are mostly a mixbag box-office wise.

I don't even want to imagine what Dessy-T would have looked like in FW with its horrible designs and even worser suits.

I rarely use G-Fan as an official source for anything, as it's editor has printed misinformation in a few occasions thanks in part to his bias against certain films and the people who made them.
But that's just me. |

It was an interview, so I'm trusting it. So I wonder how Final Wars would've ended up if someone had gotten the script who would have gone with that angle, continuing the Heisei era I mean.

If Dessy-T was in Final Wars instead of Kaizer Ghidorah, his design would be bastardized beyond repair.

I like the ending we have with Keizer Ghidorah. I mean, Ghidorah is Godzilla's archrival, so it makes sense that he's the final enemy in Godzilla: Final Wars. Destoroyah would feel weird and out of place in a movie filled with Showa monsters.

The difference here is that Horsey Ghidora is not King Ghidora, Godzilla's true arch rival. What the hell were they thinking when they designed this thing? |

Yeah, I know, but he's still a Ghidorah. I thought it was cool that Godzilla fought one at the end.

I thought Dessy would be a interesting foe, after all it was created from the only weapon that killed the first godzilla, why not let Godzilla face it off one more time.
Though Kaiser Ghidorah had a bad design, it seems the only Ghidorah version everyone likes is Grand King Ghidorah from Mothra 3
Which IMO would have been a more awesome choice.
Though I dout Toho will be able to make a Ghidorah as badass as Grand King Ghidorah, to me it seems they pulled out all the creative stops for Ghidorah in Mothra 3. |

| I think the thing with Destroyah is that the monster is too tied to the storyline of the movie he appears in, like many of the new Heisei monsters. Unless we get another film that continues the time-line of the Heisei series we'll probably never see Destroyah again. |
