Some minor tweaks to their fights aside, I'd have had Godzilla have a pretty even fight with MG, even have a moment where he gets a minor upper hand that he looks poised to capitalized on, only for the camera to swap to a HUD pov of MG, he scans Godzilla real fast, finds that leg wound and then pounds on it like a heel in WWE to bring Godzilla down and get the upper hand.

I’d probably lengthen the movie to have more time to explore the HE, more time for the MG fights, more time to actually show Madison’s PTSD, give the Godzilla part of the story more characterization than just exposition, and for Ren to have more character and significance. Oh, and make his motivation apparent and important.

Remove Mechagodzilla (and subsequently the team Godzilla subplot) which would give the smaller cast room to breathe and put more of a focus on the rivalry between Godzilla and Kong's species, explore more of the Hollow Earth, establish some more concrete lore that isn't retconned in a future film or contradicted by some tie-in comic and have the final fight take place within the Hollow Earth. Godzilla still wins. Removing Mechagodzilla might seem a bit radical, but I think there's enough meat there to be its own movie and trying to combine these two ideas into one film just takes away from both.

I'm genuinely happy with the film we got but alas I would definitely touch up on some aspects if I could. Have a basic-ass brainstorm I scribbled up:
1) Make the runtime longer, atleast around more than two hours. Could definitely help to shape up key plot points and character motives.
2) Have the original opening scene with the failed drilling operation attempt on SI resulting in the death of Nathan's brother. Showcase the aftermath of the island getting flooded and engulfed with Kong looking around and roaring in anger/despair.
3) The Pensacola attack plays out the same aside from the key difference that Bernie's hacking into the database also reveals that APEX were behind the creation of the Oxygen Destroyer, leading to a vague scene of him understanding what his wife was talking about (based on the novelization and will be expanded later on the film). Also a scene showing Ren in his cabinet looking at an old picture of Ichiro hugging him at a baseball game in a grimaced and angered fashion before getting ordered by Walter to evacuate.
3) More scenes and focus to Monarch as a whole. I'd merge Lance Riddick's character into Houston Brooks and make him the new board director, with Russell leading his own division focused on tracking and following Godzilla around (think the G-network from G2000). He would be the one accompanying Madison and (much to his dismay) Josh on their mission to truly discover what goes on with Godzilla's behavior because he feels that the rest of the board is not looking deep enough, and because of a heartfelt conversation with Madison regarding the events of KOTM. Bernie is still present but mainly acts as a guidesman who helps them to breach into the Pensacola base and uncover vital info.
4) Ren would be fleshed out on a significantly bigger margin. I'd dwelve deep into his motivations and view on Godzilla, plus how his strained relationship with Ichiro affected him as a person in general. He would be the more predominant antagonist with Walter just acting as his overly cocky and rich higher-up taking credit for his work, and he would be the one to recruit and convince Lind to go on the Hollow Earth mission by "relating" to him emotionally. His fate at the end of the film would be left uncertain.
5) Flesh out the PTSD aspect with Madison from the novelization and focus more on her relationship with Mark. Honestly I feel like the Team G plot could have been a great father-daughter reconciliation.
6) Expand more upon the whereabouts of the rest of the Titans and mention the ending of Dominion where Godzilla puts all to sleep, in relation to Kong being the only one awake which might put him into danger and the mission into jeopardy.
7) The journey to the HE is lengthier and more critters show up, including the "Shimidah" from the concept art in an intense spiderpit type scene and a brief glimpse at a herd of Behemoths when the team and Kong cross the plains.
8) More details and lore regarding the ancient rivalry between Kong's and Godzilla's species, mostly the novelization stuff shown through detailed accounts and murals made by the Kongs themselves. Add more of an emotional punch when Godzilla destroys the last bit of heritage left of Kong's kind by having him go into a range fit after the "Hollow Earth" drilling scene.
9) Both of the Godzilla/Kong fights play out the same, with some minor differences to the HK fight- there is more overall destruction as Kong escapes from Godzilla on the buildings, while also him getting more good hits like biting Godzilla's gills and slamming his head with the axe handle. Last portion is practically identical except for a scene where Godzilla clenches his jaws around Kong's neck while plowing and pushing him through several buildings before pinning him down.
10) Mechagodzilla destroys the entire APEX base and a good portion of HK upon his emergence before his clash with Godzilla. Godzilla gets a slight bit of good counterhits against MG but the outcome is overall the same after the latter dominates him in the beam-off.
11) Instead of the flask Josh uses his hacking skills to send a Virus into MG's system which causes it to briefly malfunction before Ghidorah takes back over. The defeat scene is the same with Kong ripping out his head and roaring in victory, and the addition of Godzilla incinerating the rest.

My changes would start with this:

- Prologue happens on Skull Island but before the storm ravages the place. Show Dr. Andrews living and working with the Iwi people, show an established a close relationship and bond with Jia and her family. Storm happens and Kong protects as many as he can, but Jia's family does not make it, and Kong gets knocked out. The Iwi are not completely wiped out but Andrews adopting Jia as we see becomes much easier to accept than all but Jia died. Flashing to present day Kong wakes up and the rest proceeds as shown in the film, highlighting his loneliness.

- Maybe in opening crawl stick on the idea that Godzilla put all the Titans back in their places, back into hibernation.

- Either in prologue or dialogue establish why Bernie is infiltrating/spying on APEX. I've seen tragic losses turn people to conspiracy theory and other out there pursuits as coping mechanisms. Give us a good reason why Bernie is doing what he is doing. Have Sarah's death be related to Skullcrawler containment breach or some sort of accident that we begin to uncover throughout the film. Team Godzilla's story should be about dealing with loss and grief for Bernie and Madison.

- Pensacola happens as is but Godzilla destroys the eye. The CNN newsflash should detail Godzilla having attacked many other locations around the world in the last few weeks, either at named or unnamed APEX sites. I want MechaGodzilla to have a somewhat more rugged and unfinished appearance.

- I want to give Godzilla a reason to attack in the Tasman Sea. His objective is to take Kong back to the Hollow Earth just like the other Titans because they should not be leaving their natural territory/hibernation spot. Godzilla succeeds in dragging him through a portal in the trench and dropping him off in the HE, reappearing and glowering at the naval fleet before continuing on his way.

- Sneaking through APEX Hong Kong occurs similarly, however, it ends with their capture and detainment not at gunpoint. Walter is not hostile and pleads his case in front of Team Godzilla, stating that they need the Ghidorah skull to fully control and the HE energy realize MechaGodzilla's power for the sake of humanity. The argument is compelling but Madison retorts with a line similar to "The arrogance of man is in thinking that Nature is in our control and not the other way around" that resonates with Ren. He begins to question what APEX is doing and maybe Godzilla's motivation for attacking humans is justified.

- Hollow Earth expedition proceeds like an adventure film to find Kong in his new home. Showcase the Hollow Earth and its inhabitants better, tease a glimpse at the wreckage of Nathan's brother's expedition vehicle. Kong saves everyone from the Warbats again. They try to convince Kong to come back but he wants to stay because he is home now.

- Hong Kong scene starts with Godzilla arriving as is, not crashing through bridge however.

- The throne scene proceeds largely as before without Maia suddenly and comically turning into a villain. Kong is unaware what the Hollow Earth energy is but he allows them to take a sample. Taking this sample sets off Godzilla's radar and he fires back into the HE, we see the breath pass through a portal and come out supercharged. From here, EVERYONE gets out of the Hollow Earth with Kong coming because he viewed his attack as an attack on Jia.

- The Hong Kong fight proceeds as a misunderstanding, with Kong proceeding to run interference on Godzilla as he is only focused on destroying the HEAV with the HE energy. This justifies the beam spamming and Godzilla destroying much of Hong Kong without a care because he knows that destroying that source is worth a few hundred thousand lives so that MechaGodzilla is not activated. Godzilla takes his focus on the HEAV once Kong demonstrates he is not letting up and the axe becomes an immediate threat. The fight proceeds largely as we saw in the movie but does not end with Kong passing out. Scene ends with Godzilla's foot on Kong roaring in his face. Godzilla is just keeping him in place until he submits.

- HEAV lands and the energy source is handed off, both Teams are now in one location. Activation and power up proceeds as normal, bay doors begin to open. MechaGodzilla powers up blue and then powers down momentarily before lighting up red. Ren is unable to control and loses access to the Mech. Simmons is delighted MechaGodzilla is working, firing in the direction of Godzilla standing over Kong, and then is horrified when his creation begins to lay waste to Hong Kong first instead of Godzilla and Kong. He and Maia come to the realization that man cannot attempt to control nature and Godzilla is justified.

- There is a moment of recognition from Kong as to why Godzilla was hellbent on destroying the HEAV and realization that Jia is at APEX. MechaGodzilla turns and then begins to attack the APEX facility but Godzilla and Kong tackle it.

- The vs MechaGodzilla happens as we see in the film but we get more time on the fight, Godzilla holds his own somewhat better, it is a longer scene, and Godzilla saves Kong instead of the alcohol.

- Ending happens similarly with some more time spent wrapping up the film rather than the literal 2 minutes we got.

I aims to please. I really enjoy taking the original mold of Godzilla movies and tweaking it for what I perceive the better. I actually thought up a really good "remake" for Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla.
