>300 million+ in opening week

Bruh, it could have consistent 50% drops week after week after week and it would still break 500 M

And those are still pretty impressive numbers. More MonsterVerse is all but announced at this point.

What's your point? The Fast & Furious films released on the Easter Holiday weekend have had a 70% drop on their 2nd week of release.

It's completely normal for a big tentpole films to have big drops on their 2nd week of release. Especially after a holiday.

A lot of things could impact that number. Most people don't pay to see the same movie twice. Here, that effect is likely exacerbated by its availability on HBO Max.

This isn't 2014. 60% is normal and expected. Better than expected, considering the circumstances!

60% drop isn’t terrible considering it’s after a holiday and on HBOMax

It’s chugging along in China still. Currently at 160m there. I think 400m worldwide is the goal

nice

but yeah, at OVER 300 M

let's assume the next week does drop by 60%

that's 120 M

or 420 M total

another 60% drop brings the total to 468 M

another 60% drop brings the total to 487.2

and one more (For a five week run) would bring it to over 490M

this is assuming a consistent 60% drop disregarding the staggered releases given that it came out april 1st in the UK and the 5th in Japan

so give it up Gamera2021, this movie was a success

This movie is a massive success and more movies will follow because of it.
Can someone turn me into a mod for an hour so I can ban an obvious troll that I've blocked, then remove my mod status?

But seriously. I don't see Italian Gamera Fan's posts anymore though whenever someone quotes him, my eyes skim them. It makes me come back less and less to this forum seeing that an obvious troll is allowed to post here.

Continual unwarranted negativity when everything proves to be otherwise can be seen as bait, so be careful. Consequently, insisting that another member needs to be banned is also risky business: don’t do it.

Anyways, has this movie already surpassed KOTM in terms of BO?

It's crazy how every MV film always ends up with a huge obstacle in its way, and nearly every time, crushes right through it.

I'm dying on the hill that says KOTM was jumped by Disney films that year, but looking here at GvK I'm super proud of how well it's standing on its feet during such a bad time in the world rn, especially considering in the US its free to stream with Max.

G14 had to deal with its fair share of competitive releases, same with Kong. But everytime the headlines stay the same, "GODZILLA/KONG STOMPS THE BOX OFFICE"

I think if we add the $200-250M of the HBO Max deal, it is encroaching on KSI territory, but I could be wrong.

I'm dying on that hill till Godzilla 3 comes out and flops.

I have a good feeling that this movie puts G3 on a strong footing. But we'll probably get a different monster movie first before Godzilla comes back, and the success of that, in addition to GvK, will help.
