Yokohama was in a state of utter chaos. It hadn't even been twenty minutes since the sapphire-colored leviathan surfaced from the sea, and already most of the city became engulfed in lightning and fire. The civilians ran as fast as they possibly could in hope of escaping the destruction, their screams being drowned out by constant claps of thunder from the red clouds, and the roars of the monster that called upon them. Raiga sensed that they were terrified for their lives, and he was glad. This rampage wasn't just mindless aggression. This was a display of pure power. He was establishing his dominance upon this world, and he had the might to back it up.
Raiga marched downtown, continuing his crusade without resistance. But he then suddenly came to a halt. His instincts told him something was rapidly approaching him. His ears caught the sound of what one could best describe as a whirling, hissing sound. The monster turned, only to get slammed in the side by the flying object. The force of the impact launched the saurian into a nearby office building, which crumbled against his weight. The flying object that resembled a tortoise shell unleashed four jets of flames as it descended to the ground, producing smoke and kicking up the rubble that surrounded it. Shaking off the sudden blow, Raiga rose from the wreckage and turned to the thing that struck him, which was obscured in the dust cloud. The beast released a rage-filled bellow, calling out whatever attacked it. As the smoke dissipated, the silhouette of his assailant emerged. It marched towards him, revealing itself as the powerful guardian of the Earth.
Gamera took a good look at Raiga, something about him brought back memories. The ancient monster recalled coming to blows with a similar kaiju back when he protected Atlantis many millennia ago. Albeit the kaiju he fought was more aquatic, it still had the same electrical powers and vile disposition as his current opponent. Gamera was suddenly torn from his thoughts as Raiga let loose another roar, demanding that the shelled guardian take him on. The tortoise-like monster responded with a wailing cry, as if telling the thunder beast to back down. The amphibious beast let out yet another roar in defiance. Gamera knew what was going to happen next.
There was no turning back.
Raiga charged toward the guardian and lashed out against him with his crimson claws. Gamera grabbed his arms before they could cause harm and retaliated with a kick to the gut. The marine monster staggered back and was struck with multiple jabs to the head and chest. Already getting frustrated with his enemy, the aquatic theropod shook off the blow and lunged forward. He sunk his claws into the tortoise's shoulders and forcefully clamped down his jaw on to the side of the protector's neck. Gamera reared his head back moaned in pain, deep green blood poured out of his wounds and slid down his skin. In retaliation, he extended his elbow blade and dug it into Raiga's side. The leviathan howled in agony and released Gamera from his vice-like grip. The Atlantean monster followed this by ramming into him with his shoulder and pushed him away.
Raiga scowled in dismay. He refused to believe that another being could cause so much harm to him, let alone oppose him. He roared once again, and his inner eyelids covered his eyes. The sea monster's maw crackled with golden sparks and unleashed a powerful lightning beam that slammed Gamera directly in the chest. The sudden impact forced the behemoth reptile back. Raiga let loose another lighting beam upon his enemy. Gamera wailed as the attack sent ripples of burning energy coursing through his body. With his determination pushing him forward, Gamera's jaws filled up with fire and released a mighty plasma ball. The flaming orb collided directly with Raiga and engulfed the leviathan in a massive explosion.
Gamera stared at his foe, hoping that he would stay down. To his bewilderment, Raiga started to get back up, despite the injuries he had sustained. The marine beast wouldn't retreat; his pride wouldn't allow it. Raiga turned and slammed his tails against Gamera's legs, which forced him to topple over. The vile beast took advantage of the moment and started slamming his foot on the tortoise's chest. Gamera knew he was being pushed into a corner, and he needed to act fast. The Atlantean monster retracted his legs and in their place came jet flames that began to propel him backward. Gamera slid out beneath Raiga before he could stomp on him again. The electrical monster's frustration continued to grow as he saw the guardian take to the air. Gamera flew towards Raiga with his arms spread out. The aquatic monster had no time to react as the jet-powered tortoise grabbed a hold of him and ascended into the night sky.
Gamera looked out ahead as he soared across the smoke-filled sky. He held onto Raiga as tight as possible, with one arm gripping the opponent by the back, and the other pressed down on the jaws to prevent him from using any lightning attacks. The guardian was trying to head far out into the sea, where he hoped he could drop his foe and put an end to all of this. He could feel Raiga struggling to break free as he neared the coastline. If he could only make it a little further... Raiga's inner eyelids closed again. Gamera heard a rumbling in the sky above him. Before he could process his thoughts, a powerful bolt of lightning struck his back. The force caused him to lose his grip of the aquatic monster, and both kaiju of let out fearful roars as they crashed to the earth below. The buildings beneath them gave way upon impact.
Gamera groaned as he slowly got back up. After shaking off the sudden crash, he surveyed the area to see if his foe was anywhere nearby. He heard the sky rumble with thunder again and noticed a large storm cloud forming over a crowd of destroyed buildings. The sky let out a crashing boom as a barrage of lighting rained down to the ground. Gamera witnessed bolts of electricity strike the area and recognized an all too familiar roar. Raiga rose from the wreckage and lumbered toward the Atlantean guardian. The aquatic kaiju's body was surging with newfound energy thanks to the storm that he summoned.
Gamera could sense the huge power increase his foe had obtained. He fired off a pair of plasma balls in hope to wear the sapphire monster down. Raiga countered with another lighting beam that tore through Gamera's attack and forced him back into a nearby tower. Raiga raised his hands out as they start to crackle with energy. All at once, he unleashed a barrage of electrical beams from his jaws and palms. Gamera fell over from the impact and let out an agonizing wail. Raiga continued to bombard his enemy with lighting and eventually engulfed the guardian and the surrounding area in a massive explosion. The marine theropod looked around at the destruction he had caused. Not only did he destroy city, but he also annihilated one of the Earth's most powerful defenders. His pride higher than ever, Raiga let out a roar in triumph and took his leave.
As he started marching back to the sea, Raiga couldn't help but notice something was off. The wind was blowing eastward, the same direction he was going. Then why was the fire seemingly leaning towards the west? To his confusion, the surrounding flames began to fly off the demolished buildings and trailed off behind him where...
Raiga turned in a panic. There he watched as the flames gathered to the area where he supposedly had slain his enemy. The fire began to fade as they were absorbed into his once fallen foe. Raiga stood frozen and overwhelmed with feelings of shock, confusion, and fear.
Gamera glared at his would-be killer and clenched his right hand. He let out a thunderous roar as his fist became engulfed in blazing fire. The guardian's legs retreat into his body once more, replaced with blazing jets. Dead-set on ending this fight, he started flying toward the electric monster at an intense speed.
Electricity flowed throw Raiga's body once more as he unleashed lightning from his hands and mout. He hoped of ending the flying tortoise for good. Gamera spun in midair to outmaneuver the attacks and closed in. Time stood still as he was only an arm’s reach of the leviathan. The kaiju exchanged one last look at each other; Gamera with determination, Raiga with horror.
Gamera reached out with his plasma fist and forced it deep into Raiga's abdomen. Blood sputtered out the saurian's mouth as he cried out in agony. Gamera's jets went full throttle as he soared upward. The force launched the sapphire monster high into the sky. Letting out his last roar, Raiga lit up from the overwhelming flames in his body and exploded from the inside out. The would-be tyrant was gone.
Gamera hovered in the air and took a moment to reflect on the fight. He was surprised how close he was from defeat. But that didn't matter now. The Atlanteans gifted him the ability to adapt against any enemy he came across. Every battle made him stronger.
And this one was no different.
