But in human speaking, it would be hard to understand his expression because he's always smiling.

I love JJ but won't deny that he's a pretty big rip-off to cater to the Henshin hero audience. He's like the Poochie of the Godzilla franchise.

He seems to be inspired by Spectreman too.

As a child I liked JJ's design, but he needed to shoot lasers IMO. They could of made him so much better!

He's an Ultraman rip-off, but I was introduced to Jet Jaguar as a kid decades before I had any idea who Ultraman was. He's cool in that late-Showa way...what I'm saying is, I own at least one Jet Jaguar toy

I meant "Ultraman rip-off" in that "he's a giant robot who fights giant monsters" generic kind of way, not that he physically resembles the character all that much.

The design is a ripoff, but JJ is a robot, not a human or an alien. I've always been fine with JJ, but he's lame-O really. Like I said before, they could of made him so much better, plus give the poor guy a weapon! lol

Though, admitly, he is a bit, well uninspired, but then again, he is, after all, a child's creation, not from a grown professional and highly paid writer. So with that little fact around, maybe he should be cut some slack. He's definitely not my favorite kaiju character, but he has such a goofy charm to him, I really can't bring myself to hate him.

Say what you want about Megalon, but the scene with him shaking hand with the Big G is one the most heart-warming in the series. JJ was one of the reasons the movie was able to be watchable in spite of how horridly made it was. And he has a kick ass theme song.
