Man, that's two threads in a row I see you say "One of the worst ever." Feeling negative tonight, are we? :P
Lol, maybe. But I do honestly believe that Jet Jaguar is a joke. I get the nostalgia factor, but as an adult, let's call it like it is: Jet Jaguar existed for no purpose other than to cash in on Ultraman mania. His appearance, his little theme song in vs. Megalon, etc.... all of it just reeks of rank corporate commercialism. As a kid, you don't catch on to such, merely thinking he's a visually interesting, if slightly weird, new character to the franchise.

As an adult, I'm sorry, but it's impossible to not see the truly cynical nature of his whole existence. For that reason, not only am I decidedely not a fan, but in addition, if he were to ever show up in Legendary's MonsterVerse, I would have serious reservations about continuing to patronize the franchise.

That's understandable, and I do agree as to the cynical nature of the character's existence. Of course, it's a bit strange when you think about it, how Godzilla was trying to cash in on a franchise that is directly inspired by it, and of course had Eiji Tsubaraya's hand in it. I have to wonder what Tsubaraya would've thought of the character of Jet Jaguar at the time. With that said, I allow them that little bit of (failed) cynical commercialism since the whole studio was down the shitter at the time due to the recession, so I don't look at Jet Jaguar and get pissed at how Toho was at the time. I dunno why, but I get the feeling that had they been doing well, they never would've put Jet Jaguar in to begin with. Of course, that's just an assumption on my part.
