Satisfying Varan fans doesn't necesarly has to depend on previous appearences (Specially in his case, when there is so little to take), but also in finding new and creative ways to use him.

Though I think his relation with the butterflies from his film could be expanded (Symbiosis?), also that in his film he comes as a victim even more than Godzilla and Rodan (Couldn't people just leave him alone?).

I see your point, well said.

The Butterflies plot point is very interesting and original, not at all a standard device for a Giant Monster movie. I'm sure that if given proper treatment, a film with Varan could be very interesting.

That would be something I'd like to see, even though you're joking. Perhaps a Fan-Fiction is in order. 8-)

EDIT: Somehow my post disappeared.

[humor]I'd probably transplant the story to Brazil, since I think that Brazil needs more kaiju[/humor].

You know what I saw. I know, and you know. And only one of us can know.
Then that must mean I'm already dead...

Varan is a good design and a decent "second tier" monster. I'd like to see more of the monster, even at least in cameo roles such as Kamoebas in the Kiryu saga.

I'd like that, too, but more popular monsters always trump him. Fan fictions and films seem the best he'll get for now.

Varan should make some sort of comeback. The character itself is one of the most unique out of Toho's arsenal of Kaiju.

If he and Anguirus were in GMK, as it originally was suppose to be, he'd get more fan fair. Wish it really did happen.

Hey, just wanted to share this with everyone. I thought it was really cool to see Varan, as it appears, in anime form! I don't know what the source is.

Anyway, yes I think they should bring Varan back somehow. Make a remake and explain some connection between Varan and the butterflies. His design is unique as well as his ability to glide like a flying squirrel or more like the draco lizard. Really wish him and Anguirus did appear in GMK.

Seriously Varan deserves more attention. It's a good thing Godzilla: Rulers of Earth is giving him attention.

I was wondering, do we ever find out if Varan was truly the great god Baradagi? Was Varan truly a god, or was he just some giant-ass lizard free loading in that lake?

^You know I always wondered the same thing. The scientists say hes a species of dinosaur/lizard, but the native worship him as a god and there's that unexplained winds that accompany his presence. It almost like what godzilla 1954 was before he rampaged on Tokyo

If Gareth's team can aquire the rights to a Toho monster, it should be Varan. Hardly anybody knows who he is, he was in 1 movie, 1 cameo. Talk about needing love. :(
