Anguirus has always been my #1 most favorite kaiju in the Godzilla Universe. No other monster has been able to top him since I first saw him in Godzilla vs Gigan when I was 6. I've always liked armored Dinosaurs (Polacanthus, Minmi, Ankylosaurus, Edmontonia etc..) and since Anguirus is essentially a giant armored dino, I've fallen in love with him ever since. He's just got an outstanding design that really stands out from other Godzilla kaiju, and his brave and loyal personality really stands out too. He isn't too powerful, but I can only hope Toho will have him fight a fair battle with some other monster his size and strength someday. Anguirus is the best underrated, unique monster in the Showa series hands down!

... not only was anguirus physically harmed by the army attack, but he suffered SEVERE mental trauma as well, which is why he fled ...[/quote]
 ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!! Seriously ???? Severe mental trauma????!!?? I have heard it all lol, if you saw any " scaring " on the suit it wasn't because the attack, its because the suit wasn't in the best condition, it had been four years since DAM and it was showing dude its not that hard to understand, the special effects team NEVER purposely damaged the suits to show scaring, because the they could still use them for future movies.

I wish he was teamed up with Rodan along with Godzilla. They should be the ultimate trio.

Anguirus does qualify for PTSD. After being killed(?), falling from a great height, being stomped on, having his face gashed by a buzz saw, and a broken jaw, you'd think he would. He's a survivor, though.

That's what makes him a badass, he doesn't let nothing get him down. I can imagine if he could talk he would be saying to Mechagodzilla the whole time he was getting his ass kicked " is that all you got you mechanized piece of crap!!!!

I just pictured Anguirus as the black knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

That's why he's my favorite. He much have big balls and an incredibly strong will. I'd say he's the toughest earth monster.

I wouldn't say that anguirus has the biggest balls, but he is just as brave as Godzilla(although Godzilla is moreso just arrogant and aggressive rather than brave technically)

Well Godzilla isn't stupid, he's just aggressively brave. G is the strongest earth monster, but Anguirus is the bravest and toughest as far as taking damage is concerned. At least I like to think. :P I wish Toho used him more, and against monsters of equal skill instead of making him go against monsters with Godzilla's strength. :|

I wish he would have been used more, too, but I think the suit wasn't in good shape after G vs Gigan.

Resurrecting this because I am relatively new, and to share a story about our beloved Anguirus.
After showing my daughter (4 1/2) several Showa films, when Anguirus shows up in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, she asks, "Dad, Anguirus gonna bleed?"
Her observation made me laugh out loud.

I liked Anguirus the most in GRA, especially his appearance. Much more menacing than anything that came later on. The character itself, I'm kinda "eh" towards it. Not my favorite monster, but not my least favorite either.
