Hey, whatever floats your yellow submarine, man. Just wanted to shoot that idea your way.
A little too comic book for my taste. Not that its a bad idea, it just doesn't fit IMO. Maybe in a video game or cartoon?
I know where you are coming from though. Gabara isn't your typical Showa monster, and it just seems like he should have another ability.

Here is another comic book type idea, but maybe it fits a little better? Gabara can transport himself in short distances. Maybe that's a terrible idea too? LOL

I know. LOL

Here's a question for you. Should Gabara have the ability to swim long distances?

That's an interesting question. Let's consider Gabara's character for a moment. He is sometimes referred to a feline monster (whether that is origin related or just based on appearances is up to you). If that's the case, it might be an interesting weak point for him. He could have a fear of water. This would allow the teleportation power you mentioned earlier to be utilized to it's fullest.

Not to give it away, but in the story I am writing, Gabara isn't the best swimmer, and can only swim short distances. But, thank you for your feedback!

Gabara has an interesting design, and I give him credit for being one of the few mammalian kaiju. I wouldn't mind seeing him return in the future.
Actually, I think Matt Frank's NEO design was an improvement on the original suit.

Gabara (The kaiju Freddy Kruger)

Post by CheetoKamper »

I figured I'd make a topic about my favorite monster of the Godzilla series besides Godzilla himself: Gabara. I supose technicaly he doesn't exist but I've always thought he was one of the best monsters in the mid to late Showa Godzilla films, he just ended up in a sub par movie for kids. I loved the idea of him having the ability to electrocute other monsters with just a touch. I know he only existed in a dream but what if he went the Freddy Kruger route and killed monsters in their sleep? I guess I'm kinda just rambling on but I figured I'd go ahead and give Gabara some love.
He musta thought it was a gun!
I liked Giant Condor and Gabara before it was cool to just sayin.

Good idea, too bad Toho didn't have it. Damn it, will Godzilla never fight the forces of hell!?

About the closest we got was Destoroyah. He looks like a giant kaiju demon!

In the film, Gabara came off as a bully. A Gabara that kills monsters in their sleep would make him the most unique Showa creation. He'd be the first psychic monster.

>_< ...Spacegodzilla, unless of course you're only referring to the Showa Series.

Gabara has a lot of potential to be something more than just a bully. He could be pure electric (able to solidify or travel in currents), he could be a dream killer (idk but I'm thinking of Darkrai), or he could just be a demon. Endless possibilities!

He does come across as more Scut Farkus, than Freddy.

If Gabara is ever brought back, he needs to be flesh & blood IMO. I'm not a fan of this Freddy Kruger concept.

Yeah, I really like him as-is. Just a douchebag bully troll-monster that picks on the smaller residents of Monster Island. I know the movie isn't exactly beloved, and whether or not he even exists is questionable at best, but like Gigan he has one of the most developed personalities out of all the giant monsters, and I love him for it.
