Re: Gabara (The kaiju Freddy Kruger)
Apart from telekinesis Spacegodzilla doesn't come off as anything 'psychic' anyway. If anything Mothra is way more so.
It is a simple story. There is nothing that brings me happiness. Be it believing in others or them believe in me, it did not matter.
What others called happiness simply did not bring me joy.

Re: Gabara (The kaiju Freddy Kruger)
A Godzilla movie mixed with Nightmare on Elm Street with Gabara being the villain, Hmmm, I kinda like the idea.

Re: Gabara (The kaiju Freddy Kruger)
^ if that ever happened they would need to completely revamp Gabara's appearance into something that could actually be taken seriously.

Gabara was in an episode of "Go! Greenman" as himself, so maybe he does exist outside of just dreams...

Re: Gabara (The kaiju Freddy Kruger)
Gabara existed in the boy's fantasy only, a manifestation of the real life bully.

Re: Monster Discussion #26: Gabara
I just noticed after doing some research on the Toho Studio Movie Tour that Gabara's bio states "Gabara is a huge radiation-mutated toad". Now, this is the first time I've ever heard Gabara actually given some sort of origin. Is there any mention of this anywhere else?

Re: Monster Discussion #26: Gabara
He's a figment of a little boy's imagination that represents a bully, the boy's worst fear. I don't think a mutated toad is not nearly as close as his true origins explained in the movie!

Maybe Minilla was some mutation inside a Kamacarus' ootheca and that's why they attacked..... Maybe Minilla ISN'T the Son of Godzilla! He's some weird Kamacari that Godzilla felt bad for!
..... Nope, the other guys would never accept that..........
I don't know even know what a he-ba is......

Re: Monster Discussion #26: Gabara
Gabara's design is quite unique. Sure the movie he's included is not so great, but they could've come up with something much more generic. Hope to see Gabara again someday.

Gabara is all right with me. I dig the yokai/oni-inspired design.
Plus, electric hands, man! He made a decent villain in the context of his film.

I would actually really like to see Gabara return if we ever get a Monster Island based story in the future. He'd offer a nice visual counter to the reptilian and insectoid kaiju we'd inevitably see.

Def an underrated kaiju. He fit well as the role of villain in All Monsters Attack plus he had a great design based on Japanese folk lore HOWEVER I think he is best left in the showa series.

It's never ogre with this necrobump...
Anyway, I think that this monster is relatively interesting, if not just a more cruel and "retextured" version of Toho's King Kong. Unfortunately, this monster is ultimately just a byproduct of some Godzilla-obsessed kid's dream, as I would have liked to see him in the 'real world' of the kaiju universe at some point against something else besides Godzilla and Minilla.

Re: Monster Discussion #26: Gabara
Considering how Gabara is inspired by Yokai, I think he has the potential to be a really good serious monster. He could be like an evil rival to King Caesar. Considering how King Caesar is a Shisa, it'd make sense for him to be opposed to an evil oni like Gabara.

Re: Monster Discussion #26: Gabara
Yeah. In the Godzilla game for PS4 (and I assume PS3), in the Monster Guide his bio states that as well, that he was a normal toad mutated by radiation. It also claims he secretes poison from the warts all over his body, and just like LamangoKaijura said, they state his head was modified from an old Godzilla suit....I'm guessing MosuGoji era from the "jowls".Lain Of The Wired wrote:I just noticed after doing some research on the Toho Studio Movie Tour that Gabara's bio states "Gabara is a huge radiation-mutated toad".
