The whole thing sounds moronic. Does anyone question ANYTHING around here anymore? Think about how out there this idea is, and then think about the movies Toho was making in the mid '50s. Once again, Godzilla FALLING IN LOVE WITH A ROBOT....
That sounds like sick fan fiction, not something anyone in their right mind at Toho would have possible been thinking of in 1956.

Considering Toho was making Godzilla in line with the universal minsters, there is evidence saying this movie was in the works and Toho has made wierder movies then it doesn't seem that far off to me.Legion1979 wrote:Toho was working on what, exactly? Legion, Godzilla is part of the whole Tokusatsu genre. Hell, it kickstarted it. The genre is filled with batshit stuff and Godzilla already contributed to it.Legion1979 wrote:It still sounds completely batshit stupid and regardless of any "proof" someone might be able to give me, it comes off as ludicrous and utterly unlike anything Toho would have come up with in the 1950's. A robot girl that Godzilla falls in love with? Did someone mention mermaids?
Actually let me go back. Godzilla. Falling in love. To a robot. In a Toho film. In 1956.
I can't...I just can't. The things people believe...
Let's look at a few of Showa Godzilla's batshit stuff:
-Green space monkeys in silver jumpsuits
-Seatopians and their leader who looks like he came out of a 70s porno.
-Godzilla's dance in Monster Zero, the flying scene in Hedorah, the Slide Kick in Megalon, and him clapping like a moron in KKvG.
-Metallic worm things that turn into chicks with silver chainmail-looking outfits
-Gabara, whatever the fuck he's supposed to be.
-Gigan and Megalon
-Minya, who looks like the bastard child of Godzilla and the Pillsbury Dough Boy.
-The Godzilla vs Batman film that was planned.
The Bride of Godzilla idea and stuff isn't that far out of a concept.
But wait, there's more batshit ridiculous stuff outside of the Godzilla series. We got:
-A corncob dinosaur (Red King)
-A dream monster that originated from pissy sheets (Dream Gillas)
-Gavadon
-Gyango
-DinosaurTank
-Gamakujira
-Fucking Pigmon
-Birdon and his chin testicles
-Jashrine, a walking totem pole.
-Whatever the hell Lunatyx is.
-Starfish Hitler.
-Ant Capone
-Ghengis Khan-Condor
-Time-traveling genies
Do I need to continue listing more batshit stuff?
If you can't handle that, then perhaps you shouldn't be a part of this fandom.

You forgot the A Space Godzilla story treatment, where Godzilla was revealed to be an alien being from a planet of Godzilla creatures all along and bore a child.Derzerb wrote:Do I need to continue listing more batshit stuff?

Re: Lost Projects: Bride of Godzilla?
As I said before Godzilla also followed the pattern of the universal monsters at the time, he had his first movie, his revenge movie, a crossover film and later the Son of Godzilla film. Bride of Godzilla was all we were missing and that fact the Robot daughter beat 2 monsters and broke Angurius's jaw who was Godzilla's rival it makes sense Godzilla would see her as a strong mate.

Hey, you forgot having a film about a giant antagonistic moth with two fairies! Or a giant flying space turtle who fought a giant iguana that shot rainbows out of it's back!
You also forgot Godzilla vs Hedorah!

It all goes back to other times; where all crazy ideas of the Showa series (used and unused) started with this unmade project.

It's just so bizarre for a 50s Godzilla film. So even though there's apparent proof of its legitimacy, I just don't know.
Sounds like it could've been one interesting film though, to put it mildly, and it seems more like something I'd expect from the 70s.

It does sound like a 70s film, but I like the 70s films. BoG is just so odd, it makes alien roaches sound believable. Still, it might have been a fun one to watch.

I'd have like to see what this could have ended up being for curiosity's sake. But then, the film would have been the "Did this series really went there...?" thing for some people.

Oh I didn't mean that negatively. The 70s films include three of my favorites: both Mechagodzillas and Hedorah.edgaguirus wrote:It does sound like a 70s film, but I like the 70s films. BoG is just so odd, it makes alien roaches sound believable. Still, it might have been a fun one to watch.

It does sound like a '70s film. A batshit stupid '70s film but a '70s film nonetheless.
Only problem is that this is apparently from the mid '50s, when Toho was only doing basic monster on the loose films and simple alien invasion stories. That's why I don't buy it.

Maybe that's WHY it stuck as ONLY AN IDEA and not going through with it, I guess. It was too FANTASTIC (and insane) for the time. If this was considered on the 60's/70's then maybe it wouldn't have been shunned...
Maybe.

They had a monster movie and then a revenge movie followed up by a crossover movie. The early Godzilla movies were similar to how Universal did their monster movies in the 30's.Legion1979 wrote:^I have a really hard time believing that.

^ When you say it like that, it makes sense. Taking a 'page' from Universal/RKO with Kong and/or the Universal Monsters. And since Toho liked the original Kong, it wouldn't be too surprising for having this idea with
that as a basis. Interesting deduction.

Re: Lost Projects: Bride of Godzilla?
How does Toho liking the original Kong (which wasn't a Universal film) or the second Godzilla movie being a "return of" film have anything to do with the Universal monster movies? The way Toho handled their '50s movies seems a lot more in line with the American giant monster and alien invasion pictures of the era than anything Universal did in the '30s and '40s.
I think people are trying to find logic that isn't there.
