Gotengo's Role in Latitude Zero
Okay so I was watching some of the deleted scenes of Latitude Zero and noticed that both the Gotengo and Mu submarine were both present. They appeared to be the same models used in the film Atragon six years prior. After some research I found out this was intended to be a sequel, does anyone know what role the Muans and the Gotengo were to serve in the original script?

They aren't, but apparently they were originally intended to be in it judging from the deleted scenes.

Has it occurred to anyone else that the deleted scenes feature covers a variety of films and not just LZ?

Wait it does? I guess that would explain it, although when researching I noticed the film was originally titled Atragon II and was intended to be a sequel. I just found it odd it only included Atragon footage and Latitude Zero footage

Re: Gotengo's Role in Latitude Zero
Latitude Zero was a series of radio dramas in the 1940s before Toho got the movie rights.

I remember that Ed Godziszsewski did a lot of research on the film for a Japanese Giants retrospective, but even he wasn't sure how Toho came by the property. I don't recall anything specifically linking LZ to Atragon.
