Purpose?

Please. The Giant Condor does not need a purpose. He does whatever the hell he wants, and the rest of the world thanks him for the chance to applaud.

I'm pretty sure the purpose of the Giant Condor was a hidden message about the effects of the collapsing government.

Just like the fish head scene in Hedorah is clearly about Communism.

No. Communism was just a red herring.

Well, here are my ideas on said matter...

• Well yah see... The Red Bamboo created Ebirah, that bastard's duty was to patrol the sea and to destroy any boat coming or going, and Ookondaru's duty was to the same only by air.

• The Giant Condor had plans to hang out with Ebirah and Kong, so GC went out to pick up Kong, but insted of finding a big gorilla, he found a giant squatting lizard and decided to attack.

• He was hired by Ghidrah to take Godzilla out.

• The Giant Condor was casted in the remake of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, and wanted to reherse his scene...

Or something like that...

*LITTLE KNOWN FACT*

The Giant Condor ate Ichiro after Godzilla's Revenge! After the kids walked off and the credits rolled, he swooped down from the heavens and ate them all! "It sure is murder when you're so darn small!"

I sometimes perfer calling him ooconduru. Just saying
I calculated the odds of this succeeding vs the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid, and I went ahead and did it anyways.

The condor did take a slow scene and pick up the action for a brief moment.

I like the Giant Condor just fine. He adds a fun "bonus" action sequence during a somewhat slower scene.

I've heard rumours that a little figure of the Condor was made sometime in the mid 90's. I have memories of old Gojira toys at KB Toys but I don't think I ever saw it. They did have a set with little solid rubber figures (Gigan, Godzilla, Mothra, Anguirus, Ghidorah, and Baragon if I remember correctly.) though. I'm not sure if they were official.

I think a Condor toy was made, at some point. I have never seen a picture of it though, so we can't be certain.

so since we've seen pictures of bigfoot, he must exist?

i kid, but really why is this discussion going on still? it's a bird in the movie. it shows all animals there to some degree were irradiated. it was something to fill the slot in the movie. that's really it.

There is at least one figure of the Giant Condor in existence, made by Iwakura.
See? Right here on the main site.

The biggest B.L.A.M. in the entire series. I've never liked him simply because the camera work during the scene is so spastic that I can barely tell what's going on.

I don't usually like such shaky camera work for action scenes, but for this one instance I think it worked. It emphasized the abrupt nature of the attack.

It will be funny if its one of the enemies Godzilla fights in Godzilla 2014 seeing that it could be realistic seeing that its just a bird.
Yooo 8-)
