Monster Discussion #18: Ebirah (Showa)

I love Ebirah. As a kid I used one of those plastic lobsters they always have in sea-food restaurants as an Ebirah. to fight against a Hong Kong knock-off Godzilla.

Whenever he's on screen I'd like to take a bite off him!

You know, when I read this I laughed my ass off...because I did the same damn thing. I still have that rubber lobster in my closet; not a joke. It was made by a company called Imperial or something. Awesome.

Definitely one of my favorites. It's a shame that he was never in anything other than Horror of the Deep, but then again, it was probably for the best. Can't really imagine him in DAM, or anything else for that matter.

That almost happened, actually. He, along with Gaira and Sanda, were in the original treatment written for DAM.

It may be just as well Ebirah wasn't in DAM, since he probably would have been one of the kaiju that would have had practically no screen time.

Can you imagine all the puppeteers they would have to have to control all those monsters? I mean, it takes several people to control Ghidorah as it is, but add Ebirah along with Kumonga and that's a lot of strings and wires.

A unique but also pretty forgettable kaiju. I wouldn't mind him coming back in a future film, though.

You know, I'm beginning to notice that there's one monster here that seems to be hated a lot on this site and I don't quite get why. The monster I'm talking about is, of course, Titanosaurus.

Titano is a awesome monster and my fav kaiju. it seems like I'm the only one that gives a skreeonk about him on this site.

Besides, I think there's a generalized thread about each monster here.

I've never gotten the impression Titanosaurus was hated. I've seen several here who like the aqautic kaiju, and I think Titanosaurus is a great monster.

The only bad thing I've ever heard anyone say about Mr. T is "His roar is annoying"
Aside from that, never heard he was hated by anyone.
