King Ghidorah transformation - second take?

Post by Shacker9227 »

I don't know if you guys have already brought it up but I was listening to the commentary on Classic Media's GTTHM DVD when I heard David Kalat mention that there was a alternate take done for Ghidorah's fiery transformation and even said that take looked better than the one seen in the film! Has this take ever surfaced or even true?

It's not a different take, just the raw cell animation before the composite:

It's nice, but the flashes of flame are a good addition to the scene.

That was awesome! The first one was SO MUCH BETTER!!!!! I wish that was the birth of Ghidorah instead of the recycled choppy explosion.

Maybe Minilla was some mutation inside a Kamacarus' ootheca and that's why they attacked..... Maybe Minilla ISN'T the Son of Godzilla! He's some weird Kamacari that Godzilla felt bad for!

..... Nope, the other guys would never accept that..........

I don't know even know what a he-ba is......

I like the color of the effect used in the second one, but yeah, it looks better without the explosions. They make the effect look cheap, while the other, more gradual take just... flows better.
