Maybe, because Kong was pretty famous in Japan with Wasei King Kong, King Kong appears in Edo, King Kong vs. Godzilla, and King Kong Escapes. If it was without Kong or Godzilla, it would be a flop, King Kong would bring a pretty good audience, but Godzilla was the best fit, as he was extremely famous now in Japan.

I'm a little glad this film never saw the light of day, as the suits look pretty bad, and the Godzilla suit from Son of Godzilla is my least favorite suit. It definitely would have needed a better budget to keep it from looking terrible. Still, it could have been enjoyable in a so-bad-it's-good way.

SOG suit was more or less confirmed for this and the Daigoro vs Goliath suits were implied.gigan72 wrote:None of the suits for the film were ever made, and the SOG suit was most likely not going to be used in this film...KaijuFiend wrote:I'm a little glad this film never saw the light of day, as the suits look pretty bad, and the Godzilla suit from Son of Godzilla is my least favorite suit. Funny how the plot of the new Godzilla was VERY similar to Redmoon.

Interesting idea but it seems like Godzilla was just thrown in to make it more profitable and to get rid of the kaiju.

The similarities between this and Godzilla (2014) seem to be rather strong.

Re: Lost Project discussion: Godzilla vs. Redmoon(1972)
Godzilla '14 is eerily similar to Vs. Redmoon. To be fair, though, the mating and male/female monsters concept is something of a trope these days, so it's not too surprising, and is probably a coincidence. However, I wouldn't put it past the Director to slip these similarities in as easter-eggs themselves.
From what I've read of the plot, it seems fairly strong. The idea of a male and female Kaiju was not common at the time of production, and the anguish of Hafun's death seems like it would have made for a very realistic message about Mankind's treatment of its Animal neighbors. Godzilla seemed noticeably shoehorned into the plot, and it seems like his role would have significantly confused said message. Perhaps the lesson was leaned, but there was still the reality of the destruction being caused, causing the need for Godzilla's help. I also assume that there would have been more minor connections to Godzilla throughout the film, similarly to Vs. Megalon, instead of him just showing up. What is known of the Monster's look is very unfitting, though I'd bet the suits were heavily reworked for their final film.
I wouldn't have minded this movie coming to fruition, though I can't say there's a massive loss without it. Plus, at least we do have G14 to give us an idea of what we missed.

Yeah Erabus scares me. When I first saw the suit in Daigoro vs Goliath I immediately shut my computer and jumped back. I made myself try to watch through her scenes......... eww.

Re: Lost Project discussion: Godzilla vs. Redmoon(1972)
a bizarre idea. i dunno if i'd care for the mating thing (i wouldn't), but the idea of the movie sounds cool. as for parallels to the 2014 film, there are some. they're pretty light, too, but overall i don't really think the similarities go beyond a mating pair.
the monster designs (if they were to stay similar to the earbus one we have seen) would be atrocious by Godzilla film standards, even in the Showa era.
