Character Talkback Thread: U.N. Newsroom Staff

Eric Carter, lead anchor, and an assertive, charming commentator. Carter was present from start to finish in the documentation of the catastrophic events that proceeded across the pacific.

Image
Rodrigo Infanta, the ICS' Chilean foreign corespondent. He was serious in his work and did his best to provide the newest information on the relief efforts of his country's earthquake crisis.

Image
Dr. Arnold Johnson, curator of the New York Museum of Natural History, and an esteemed authority on prehistoric animals. Johnson offered several of his own unique insights on the origins and habits of Kong and Godzilla during the course of the two's rampage.

Image
Yutaka Omura, Japanese foreign corespondent. Omura vigilantly commentated non-stop on the monster crisis in Japan, providing valuable evacuation instructions and safety precautions to the panicked citizens of the nation, and continually updated reports on the military efforts of the JSDF to contain the two menaces.

Arnold Johnson is one of the greatest characters in the franchise. His theories are some of my favorite parts of the movie.

This always bothered me.
I can't believe that Godzilla was the only surviving member of its species, but if we continue conducting nuclear tests, it's possible that another Godzilla might appear somewhere in the world again.

Omura was the most reporter like. He handled the information well. Carter was an allright anchor.

Dr. Johnson has some odd ideas about Godzilla.

We are really scraping the bottom of the barrel here for poll ideas, but I have to say that I am amused.

I guess I have to with Omura, because there were times when his delivery helped lend some weight to the more serious events in the movie, at least if I recall it correctly. I prefer his narrative blurbs better than Eric Carter or Johnson.

Dr. Arnold Johnson, hands down. He gets all the best lines in the newsroom scenes.

Eric Carter. Looks and acts like you stereotypical news anchor. Fit right into any real life newscast.

Hmmm.... Serious reply or fun reply?
My sarcastic appreciation for Dr. Johnson continues to grow - but Carter and Omura were genuinely good anchors/commenators (I forgot Infanta even existed).
I guess I'll go with Carter; he left the best impression.

Arnold Johnson's ridiculousness aside, I've always despised this part of the Americanization. ESPECIALLY Eric Carter. He is the most boring, monotone newscaster ever, and it felt like the whole movie hit a brick wall every time he came on screen. Also, that shot of the satellite from The Mysterians that's supposedly the U.N.'s just... doesn't work. And they use it like five times.

I voted for Eric Carter. He was totally believable to me a news anchor. Enjoy them all though.

I like James Yagi's Yutaka Omura.
