I saw those movies in theatres, when they first came out. So, I don't think of them as "classics"...GodzillaFan1990's wrote:Good or bad no modern movies just can't compete with the classics.MandaSaurus wrote:Not as good as THOSE? Count me out...

I mean that is a given since this was shelved for 3 years, had a high budget and most of all released it in January aka Dump Month. What movie ever does well in January anyways?MandaSaurus wrote:Latest Data: Cost $50-80 mil.( hopefully that includes advertising )to make, box office to date: $27.5 mil.

Okay, okay. I get it now.
January isn't as bad as made out to be.
Btw for anyone who may not know. The director has confirmed

Re: Underwater (2020) - Kristen Stewart vs. Ningens
Just saw this earlier today and wow, reading the comments here you would think it was crap, but it was actually pretty good. I don't know what people here are complaining about, it won't win any awards but we enjoyed it, mom said she jumped a lot at the scares and grandma said it was the best horror movie she's seen in a while (admittedly I have no clue what movies she's seen horror wise lately).
All in all a pretty fun experience, looked good, and cool monster action. Wouldn't mind more set in the same universe or whatever.

I saw this the other day and i was pleasantly suprised. I'm pretty fed up with new horror movies, but this one was not bad at all.

It's the best Kristen Stewart movie...… That I have seen. Take that as you will lol.
It's the only one where her acting or accent didn't piss me off, nor did her character on film. Plus the creatures were pretty damn cool.
T.J Miller was the worst thing in this movie by a long shot.

Re: Underwater (2020) - Kristen Stewart vs. Ningens
Just watched it, I REALLY like it.
I mean, for me, Deep Blue Sea and Pitch Black are creature feature classics of my childhood....and this really scratched that itch, because I feel like we haven't had a lot of movies up that alley in a really long time.
Kristen Stewert leads the film very well. The movie hits the ground running and never stops. The characters are not deeply developed, but they do have distinct personalities and traits that are showcased for such a break-neck plot. The film wastes no time, and at 90 minutes, it earns every second of screen-time and never lingers a second longer than it needs to.
I liked all of the creature designs, and the film pushes the PG-13 rating right up to the maximum limit.
This deserved much better than to be unceremoniously dumped in January. Under the right circumstances this thing could have excelled in an August-October "off-season" release.

Re: Underwater (2020) - Kristen Stewart vs. Ningens
Time for a bump.
Just finished this movie, definitely better than I thought it was going to be. I went in knowing nothing about the movie and expected an underwater disaster movie (Poseidon adventure-esque). I was disappointment when it turned into another "chased-by-creature" film, however it really surprised me when I saw the giant Cthulhu-style monster show up.
Overall, I ended up enjoying the movie. The first 1/3 was good, the middle was meh, and I liked the last third a lot. On another note, contrary to some others here, I enjoyed TJ Miller's role and one-liners.

Re: Underwater (2020) - Kristen Stewart vs. Ningens
What are the odds this thread pops up the night I decide to watch the movie.
The script to this movie felt perfect for a Cloverfield prequel. Right down to the ending (kinda).
It felt like Aliens mixed with.. well.. Cloverfield.
It's definitely getting added to my little "Conspiracy Monster Thriller" alongside "Life" and "Cloverfield"..
Plus shout out to TJ Miller playing Hud (not really but we all know the Hud personality)

Is this movie worth watching? It's only available in UK from Prime as a £10 digital file and I'm not willing to fork out ten quid for a digital file.
