Still doesn't make a cinematic universe - it's either standalone or a sequel to the Invisible Man.SonOfGorgo wrote:There's also apparently an Invisible Woman film as well.Vakanai wrote:One Dark Army film a universe doesn't make. Even if the monsters share the screen, it'd be like calling Van Helsing or the Monster Squad movies shared universes.
I unapologetically, wholeheartedly, and without a doubt hate Godzilla vs Kong.

Re: Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe
Given Elizabeth Banks is directing, I'd assume it's a reboot of the comedic 1940 film and not a spinoff, unless Universal wants to take things in a REALLY weird direction

Not necessarily - while more known for her comedic work, she has branched out in other genres a little bit, so we can't say a more scary horror or thriller film isn't still a possibility.SoggyNoodles2016 wrote:Given Elizabeth Banks is directing, I'd assume it's a reboot of the comedic 1940 film and not a spinoff, unless Universal wants to take things in a REALLY weird direction

The invisible woman reboot is not connected to to the Invisible man.

You'd never know. A sequel's a sequel after all.miguelnuva wrote:The invisible woman reboot is not connected to to the Invisible man.

A Renfield film we knew of, if that actually even gets off the ground, but a Demetre film does sound interesting.Vakanai wrote:Two possible Dracula movies:

No one is excited over on the Classic Horror Film Board either. Am I the only one who likes the idea of a Renfield movie?SonOfGorgo wrote:A Renfield film we knew of, if that actually even gets off the ground, but a Demetre film does sound interesting.Vakanai wrote:Two possible Dracula movies:

Agreed that the Demeter movie is very fascinating though. A Dracula film set on a ship at sea, never seen anything like that before. Could be pretty cool.

I didn't exactly say I wasn't excited per se. Just that a part of me doubts if even at least half of these announced projects so far may actually get greenlit or even get released in the foreseeable future.Vakanai wrote:No one is excited over on the Classic Horror Film Board either. But anyways, yeah. I admit it's been a while since I read the original Bram Stoker novel.

Leigh Whannel will be walking the dog with directing the upcoming new take on Ryan Gosling's THE WOLF-MAN.

The guy who made Invisible Man is doing this? Alright, i'm interested... though not as much as that Blumhouse Dracula film. The One and Only wrote:Leigh Whannel will be walking the dog with directing the upcoming new take on Ryan Gosling's THE WOLF-MAN.

A guy who randomly stumbled upon this place one day, invested much too much time into it, and now appears to be stuck here for all eternity..and strangely enough, i do not regret it!

Re: Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe
The Wolfman is probably among my favorites of the Universal Monsters. Definitely count me in!
And with this right direction and same director of The Invisible Man, these movies will finally be on the game for sure.

Cool cool cool. For the first time I'm comfortably optimistic about the brand.

Re: Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe
There's been some scuttlebutt going about I see today that DRACULA UNTOLD could be getting the sequel we've been waiting for. Although not part of the sadly killed too soon Dark Universe of Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe. The 2014 take on the Prince of Darkness starring Luke Evans and Charles Dance has found a new life on Netflix. Leading to speculation that maybe we could be getting a sequel on the streamer.

I still think it should've stayed the first installment. The One and Only wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 7:35 pm There's been some scuttlebutt going about I see today that DRACULA UNTOLD could be getting the sequel we've been waiting for. Re: Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe
This thread got buried huh lol?
Well, quick recap since the last year.
Coming out this month is Renfield, a horror comedy about Dracula's loyal minion falling in love and trying to say no, which looks like a lot of fun (not including NIC FUCKING CAGE as Dracula.)
Universal has announced a planned reboot of The Mole People which could be fun, especially the originals social commentary.
And the reason I found this thread, fresh off of Scream VI, the Radio Silence team has been announced to have signed off on the long dead Dracula's Daughter reboot production, though it's not confirmed if they're sticking with everything the old team had.
(And not Universal but just for fun: Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein coming soon with Andrew Garfield as the monster and Oscar Isaacs as the "good" doctor.)
...it's really good to be around for a golden age of horror.

Re: Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe
The Mole People could be interesting. I wonder if the MV's use of the hollow earth has anything to do with rebooting the underground adventure.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter trailer is here. Looks like a proper horror show. Can't wait!
