TD CAST figures (Iwakura)

Post by wolf36 »

hey,
Does anyone know a good site online to find these figures? Yahoojp! usually has a lot of the same figures and I am looking for a couple of the more limited issue figures from GvsMG74-75. CAST makes some really interesting figures, they are really small and fragile, but they tend to make things from the TOHO universe that we never really see, more actual scene recreations than just figures. Here is a link to their site if you are interested in researching the figures:

http://cast-web.net/shop/
(click the red tab on the above page to see the Godzilla/toho listings)

this link also has some great images of CAST/IWAKURA figures:

I never see much discussion on these figures, if you collect them, or have any you want to sell please PM me, I collect any of the figures they make that relate to Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 1974-1975. But they make so many interesting figures it would be fun to see more images and information on them if someone has any.

I feel like I might've made a topic for these a while back but I'm not sure.

I have a couple of these and the "Iwakura Deluxe" ones, which are more or less the same thing. I seem to be one of the only ones that does, though. It's very difficult to find any info on them, much less find somewhere to actually be able to purchase them. They're too hard to find and expensive for most, I suppose.

I'll take a picture of mine later if I remember.

Hi all. Just want to revive an old thread and ask why in general do Iwakura deluxe figures have these weird hang tags attached? What purpose do these tags have and can they be removed and reattached at will?

Good question! I’m one of the few people on this site that even has a few of these, and I actually haven’t opened them. I don’t know myself! I’m assuming they’re to hang on things like Christmas trees, or other things. I would say don’t cut or remove it.

Nice to know someone did a The Last Dinosaur piece. There's only a tiny handful of pieces from that movie.

I just discovered these this week. Where the heck do people buy these? I found a few on eBay, but there are so many more awesome figures! Does anyone have any suggestions?

You can’t buy them at a store, I think.

What happens with these figures is that you. Can win them through raffles at Godzilla related events in Japan(yeah). You also get some as a bonus for getting special tickets and such.

So for me, I attended a Godzilla Night event to see films all night. You buy raffle tickets, 300¥ each, and each ticket guarantees a stationary item, or a cast figure. I bought six tickets and four of them were cast figures so it wasn’t too bad.

The idea is that these are special handmade produced figures made in very limited quantity and runs. Theyre usually things that are relatively or very obscure. They aren’t intended to be mass produced or sold which is why they’re extremely expensive on secondary markets.

Some of the bigger figures, you’d do the raffle and if you won it just gave you the OPTION to buy. I assume that’s the price listing here:

Edit edit: did some more digging:

This is the twitter of them. They regularly advertise the events and where these things will take place!

Apparently there is one tomorrow! It’s in Kyoto which sucks. But in the future I’ll keep an eye on this page!

Thanks for the info! That helps me set realistic expectations for availability and pricing on the secondary market.

Added in 1 day 23 hours 35 minutes 37 seconds:
I've been looking at some of the deluxe Iwakura dioramas, like at the bottom of the page below:
http://sugimado.la.coocan.jp/gojiratokudai2.htm

How do these figures compare to the smaller Iwakura sets? I've seen some good comparison between the blind box Iwakura and High Grade, but I'd like to know the size of the Deluxe figures before I sink any money into them. Thanks for any help!
