Re: What Godzilla movies do you actually like?
Like most fans, I dig all of them with a few exceptions (I'm not a fan of GRA, Hedorah, Mothra 92, SpaceGodzilla or Final Wars). The 60's films are the best IMO, I love every single one of them (though I'm sure I would hate All Monsters Attack if it weren't for nostalgia).
My top 10:
1. Mothra vs. Godzilla
2. Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster
3. Godzilla
4. Invasion of Astro Monster
5. King Kong vs. Godzilla
6. Godzilla 2000
7. Destroy All Monsters
8. Terror of Mechagodzilla
9. Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster
10. Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (74)

The only Godzilla films I actually dislike are Godzilla's revenge and Rebirth of Mothra 2. (Not a Godzilla film, but close enough.) Even then, I still find them completely watchable if I just skip to the monster parts.

Man the dub for ROM II sucked so badly.
I actually liked Battle for Earth, more than Spacegodzilla.

Personally, I like all Godzilla films. Like, yeah, first time I watched some I was kinda doubtful, but after that, I always try to find the good side to them

Well I "like" all of them, for the most part, and I love all of the Showa series with the exception of maybe RAIDS AGAIN and REVENGE (both of which I still like, just not crazy about em'). Other than that..
Return of Godzilla
Godzilla vs. Biollante
Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah
GMK
I honestly could live without the rest.

Well I've never seen the original version of ROM II, but I've heard the original version is also pretty bad.

REBIRTH OF MOTHRA II is terrible dude. Watching it in Japanese won't save it. It's one of Toho's worst SPX films ever, and IMO, the absolute worst.

Re: What Godzilla movies do you actually like?
It has a few merits, Dagahra's design was pretty nice, and the fights weren't too bad, but that's really all the nice things I could say for it.
Man those kids were annoying.
Well ROM III isn't great by any means, but I'd still consider it a solid flick. (When compared to the previous entry.) I still like the concept of Mothra going back in time to stop an early Ghidorah, good stuff right there.

Indeed. I mean, I'd imagine that if you didnt 'actually like' the Godzilla films then you probably wouldnt be here, eh?
I like the hell out of Final Wars, myself. I couldnt give a rat's ass LESS about the negative things that many folks say about it, screw that. As a person that saw Destroy All Monsters in the theatre and has been into these films since birth, I can tell you that Toho did a GRAND homage job! Silly at times? Maybe. Cartoonish at times? Sure. But its a FUN ride for a life-long fan, for sure.
Even the meathead Don Frye was doing his thing in this, dressed in his best M. Bison/Steam Punk 'Commander' suit and all, heh.

Re: What Godzilla movies do you actually like?
Eh...no. I don't think it's even close to being a "solid flick". The first film is still better, IMO. I'd rather watch SPACEGODZILLA or FINAL WARS over ROM III, and that's saying a lot.Destroyer wrote:

The concept of Mothra being able to travel back in time is pretty ludicrous to begin with, to be honest.

Re: What Godzilla movies do you actually like?
Against Vs. Mothra, Gojira, or GMK, it's pretty much nothing. But up against its other two films, pretty good. It's been a bit since I've seen it, but I think I'd give it give it a 7/10 at most, 6 at the least.
I don't know, the concept is pretty insane, but I thought it was well-done, especially Cretaceous King Ghidorah.

Re: What Godzilla movies do you actually like?
I think other than the pretty cool looking Ghidorah, ROM III is terrible. I think I just about gave up on the film when they had Mothra time travel, I can buy a lot of BS science in Toho's monster films, but Mothra time traveling has to be the stupidest dues ex machinas in a monster film. I think a Mothra centered trilogy could've been a good film series, but all three suffer from sup-par SPFX, plotlines so childish that they make the Showa Gameras look like Shakespeare, generic and unlikable opponents and giving pointless and weird powers and forms to Mothra Leo making him a wet dream to people who obsess over monster strength.
They're all just really bad imo.

I thought the first one was pretty good. A bit more violent than I thought it'd be, some really emotional scenes, but not great by any means.

Re: What Godzilla movies do you actually like?
I am very fond of Godzilla vs. Mothra, the 90s version. It is the best of the 90s films that I have seen, by far. It is also one of only two G films that choked me up a bit.
I have zero troubly admitting that.
Watched Godzilla Against Mecha-G for the first time last night. It was good enough, but not a favorite by any stretch. Someone here mentioned the 'superior' design of this version of Mecha-G. I have to say, after seeing the suit design, fluidity, weaponry, and body mechanics of this guy, I agree 100%. I like this design nearly as much as the 70s version(s), and FAR better than that smooth/bloated 90s version.
The film, on the whole, bored me a bit and seemed like a re-hash of a re-hash. It had its good points, some great points, but its not one that I'll be watching in regular rotation.
Is this the 'Kiryu' Mecha-G? Kiryu = kill you?
