Global chaos ensues as advanced war machines begin destroying cities and decimating military forces. The only hope to stop them is a World War II era battleship called the Ra. A ship that was destroyed 50 years ago after a fateful fight with an American battleship called the Liberty. Rebuilt over decades, the Ra is ready to meet the invaders head on. However, the ship was unknowingly the cause of the assaults. Before World War II, in the 1930's, a series of meteorites collided with the Earth. From them, a new form of energy was discovered. Using this energy, the Japanese constructed the mammoth battleship Ra. Meanwhile the US also harnessed the energy to build the Liberty battleship. As it turns out, the meteorites didn't originate from space, but rather were set into motion by a species living inside the Earth. The underground race deployed two spies, Annette and Avatar, to oversee the energy's use. If used as weapons, the civilization had agreed to wipe out humanity. With World War II happening, their use as weapons was unavoidable and the ships were pitted against each other. The clash between the Ra and Liberty had the fortunate side effect of placing Avatar in a suspended state. A chance happening which delayed the global siege of humankind until modern times...
